Historia
In a bid to outrun her past, Carrie Ballentyne accepts a nursing position with a doctor in the New Mexico Territory. She knows the journey from New York to Santa Fe will not be easy, but she relishes the adventure. However, nothing could have prepared her for the wilderness she encounters. Its vastness and power are awe-inspiring, stunning in both beauty and brutality. To endure, she must learn to rely on her fellow travelers—and one enigmatic man in particular. As the small, tight-knit group tackles challenge after challenge, she feels her heart opening to this rugged land.

A wealthy federal judge, there’s no short list of people who could have a vendetta against Sands, but the gruesome murders, especially that of his children, turn their St. Paul community on its head. Grateful this series continues
Revisado: 10-06-23
I enjoy the series and enjoyed this latest book. I immediately missed previous narrator Richard Ferronev(RIP) but once over the change, I settled into Petkoffs performance. It was lively, modulated but completely natural (no odd character voices) - a skill I admire especially w multiple speaking characters.
The story was engaging, well paced and fresh. Enjoyable in every way. A fine read/listen.

Koontz' Jane Hawk series - a dystopian masterpiece
Revisado: 02-21-23
Koontz' Jane Hawk series is a dystopian masterpiece. Elizabeth Rodgers performance is flawless. i am sometimes too tender to stick w a dystopian storyline. With this series i felt the pain of the hero characters but was so engaged I needed closure on the story line. Masterfully imagined, paced and ultimately resolved. I cried at the tragedy, railed at the selfishness of the evil, laughed at bits of very realistic banter and thought about the plausibility/implausibility when not listening. The series - writer and performer - is thoroughly engaging.

Awkward narration at first- worth waiting it out
Revisado: 01-29-23
Summary: great book, interesting, fast paced plot. Engaging. I have read everything this author has written, including another by this narrator - I've enjoyed them all. The beginning of this performance was distracting for me. Glad that I decided to give it a handful of chapters to see if the performance settled for me. It did snd I'm grateful.

Classics w best performances EVER
Revisado: 01-20-23
We know the books and the story lines, for themselves and as deserved classics. I'm relistening in consideration of a grandchild's growth ... but the narrators in this compilation are the special joy. Each narrator is uniquely gifted and as phenomenal and memorable as the prior. It is a special treat, not to be missed.
Contrary to some earlier reviews the book title/chapter labeling shows book title, chapter number within the book, and chapter name, so it is easy to navigate as needed within each book and from book to book within the whole collection - an updated indexing perhaps.

Historia
England's prestigious Plumtree Press is about to release a shocking book that exposes coded messages in a famous novel - codes alleged to be printer's errors. The messages are so treacherous, that if discovered at the original time of publication, the author would have been hung for treason. Now, with someone ruthlessly trying to keep this revealing exposé out of stores, Alex Plumtree must protect his star author and family's legacy before the phrase "publish or perish" becomes all too real!

Historia
It is possibly the most repugnant piece of fiction in all of England. So why is Plumtree Press, one of the country's most respectable publishing houses, about to add the hotly controversial new novel to its list? Publisher Alex Plumtree isn't talking. Hardly anyone knows he has taken on the project as a favor to the Prime Minister. Forget the bad press and hateful reviews. Alex swiftly finds himself on the wrong side of a lawsuit, bugged, betrayed, roughed up, and implicated in murder. Suddenly Alex doesn't know who to trust.

Historia
From best seller to death-dealer, London's Plumtree Press has a world-class best seller of a novel. And the sequel is earmarked to get this old family firm out of the red. But its anonymous author, known to Plumtree only as "Arthur", has apparently vanished, leaving the crucial last five chapters undelivered. Alex already knows they reveal the identity of the characters who smuggled British children to America during World War II. But, of course, this is fiction. So when a lead critic previews the book as a nonfiction exposé, Alex is shocked.

A good story - but tortured
Revisado: 06-11-22
I enjoy Tana Frenchcs novels. The story lines are intriguing, the characters very well drawn and interesting. This one (for me) just goes an inch too far in the twisted plot line - interesting yes, but the characters are all intentionally cruel to one another, sometimes for an end purpose, often for sport, but mostly just because they can. it is hard to care or sympathize with any of them. All just too unpleasant for me

This is the first one an engaging series. performance is good, though I'd always prefer avoiding squeaky high voiced female characters. There are so many realistic options and less irritating.
