I had read this many years ago but didn't recognize it immediately. I thought it was something new. I was disappointed to have used a credit for something I already read. I realize I could have returned it but since I had already started listening, wrote it off to experience. The book itself was okay, but not as good as more recent books. I will examine the dates more thoroughly in the future.

Excellent book

Flowed well and the definitions of different working dog terms were great. So many books these days make assumptions that everyone will understand what they mean. While I did have a vague idea of what most of them meant, the clarification was welcomed. I will be looking for more books by this author.

Disappointed in the ending
Revisado: 12-25-19
I felt the end of the book ruined the whole thing. It does say Book 1, so I supposed this is yet another cliffhanger series. (which I personally hate) I actually thought I had missed something or that the book had an error in it. I've been a Patricia Cornwell fan for years but this put me off quite a bit.

Historia
As an FBI profiler, it's Lilah Love's job to think like a killer. And she is very good at her job. When a series of murders surface - the victims all stripped naked and shot in the head - Lilah's instincts tell her it's the work of an assassin, not a serial killer. But when the case takes her back to her hometown in the Hamptons and a mysterious but unmistakable connection to her own life, all her assumptions are shaken to the core.

Disappointing
Revisado: 03-03-19
I usually enjoy books that are in a series. Not in this case. There is no resolution to the story line. NONE. I actually thought that my program had accidently skipped to the end of the book. But no, it just ended without any resolution to the story. I had always enjoyed this particular author but after this I will be more cautious. To me a series of books may be related by the hero or heroine but each book contains a story with a resolution. This definitely is not the case here. The story itself was a bit disjointed as well. It skipped around and started and stopped as if chunks were cut out. There are a lot of characters without enough details to tell them apart. Not happy at all.

Five star all the way!!!!!
Revisado: 01-22-19
Accidental Sorceress This is an epic roller coaster of fantasy that will bring you to tears and then marvel as to the heights of joy, the complex way humanity deals with each other and the strength of character needed to stand for what is right will keep you reading or listening until the very end. This second book of the series kept me going non stop and will be one of my keep forever favorites. The story is complex with fantastically created details about the cultures and history of many different races of people. From the Shahala to the Kadar and the mysterious warriors that battle with tigers at their sides. Tera is a Shahala healer and Batumar is the High Lord of his people. Their bond is a solid one and their determination to fight a terrible evil that threatens their world leads them to brave a wild ocean, pirates and multitudes of difficulties. Tera has come to love Batumar with every thing that she is and she has become the center of his world but they both are following a prophecy that tells of a Shahala healer that will save the world. Tera doubts those that say she is the one spoken of in the prophecy but despite her doubts, she and Batumar must do everything they can to stop the evil that is slowing taking over the world. They endure a terrifying voyage across wild oceans that most fear to even attempt. Their only choice is to travel under cover in the company of pirates. Their voyage leads to tragedy and Tera’s magical healing abilities seem to desert her as she struggles to continue on her path to save the people from the horrors of war. Her faith and her abilities are tried over and over again as her small group gradually grows as she passes through villages already ravaged by the enemy. Among her steadily growing group is a tiger, Marga, with whom she is able to communicate in the spirit songs taught to her by her mother. Accompanied by her faithful tiger, Tera continues to gather allies even as she has another devastating loss. Throughout all of this, tales of a terrifying sorcerer that is controlled by an emperor of pure evil, keep the group going onward. As Tera’s powers slowing come back she prays to the spirits to show her the way. Her people have always been a peaceful race and she seeks a peaceful answer under war conditions. I listened to the first book, wrote a review and dived right into this book, the second of a trilogy. The writing is superb, The worlds created are detailed and believable. The history and the flaws of human in general and their way of exaggerating stories that turn to legends in the blink of an eye had me quite amused. If you haven’t read book one, I highly recommend both of these before you head for book three.

Epic Fantasy story!!!!
Revisado: 01-14-19
This book is the first of a trilogy and after listening to the Audible version, I was so enthralled that I could hardly wait to hear book two! I immediately downloaded book two, The Accidental Sorceress and am headed to that after this. Tera has been raised as a Shahala healer, her mother had been a healer as had been her grandmother. Peace has always been a way of life for the Shahala. From this peaceful life, Tera is sold by her father into slavery and ends up the property of a violent warlord from a distant land. Through a dreadful voyage from Shahala to the land of the Kadar, a warrior race, Tera’s epic story will keep you listening. I couldn’t stop. Really, I started listening and had to switch from my tablet, to phone, and back again as the hours passed I was so immersed with the fantasy storyline and the wonderful flow of the story. Tera is face with being considered a magical healer when in fact she has not yet come into her powers yet. Quite the conundrum considering her father sold her as a healer and her mother had been a well known magical healer prior to her death. A death that occurred under unknown circumstances in the very land Tera has been taken to. Tera is determined to not only survive her terrible situation, but to find her mother’s grave in this distant land. At the same time she prays to the spirits to grant her the powers that are late in coming to her, powers that require she be untouched. Uh oh, not a good situation to be in when you find yourself when you are again taken to be a concubine to yet another warlord, this time, the High Lord…..the top warlord, a terrifying, scarred, and fearsome man. Batumar, the High Lord, finds himself both suspicious and fascinated by the Shahala healer, Tera. I don’t want to spoil the story by going into too much detail with the conflicts both characters deal with but trust me here, it is truly an epic fantasy story. Dana Marton is a genius to have created this fantasy world with so many details of the history and cultures that blend in so well in this fantasy you will want to continue on to the second book to see the next part of the story. Bravo Dana!
