Historia
Early morning, August 1975: a camp counselor discovers an empty bunk. Its occupant, Barbara Van Laar, has gone missing. Barbara isn’t just any thirteen-year-old: she’s the daughter of the family that owns the summer camp and employs most of the region’s residents. And this isn’t the first time a Van Laar child has disappeared. Barbara’s older brother similarly vanished fourteen years ago, never to be found.

Confusing
Revisado: 03-25-25
I hate it when the story jumps back and forth between time periods. This book was worse than most because there were so many characters. I decided that I should have listened to all of them”1961” and then all of “1974”. It would have been easier to follow. I think that it is a FAD with a lot of authors today to write in this disjointed way. I know a lot of people who agree with me on this.

Wondering!
Revisado: 12-12-20
I enjoyed the book very much. It was a serious subject, but it was written with some humor. I didn’t realize that there were wild natives still existing and trying to live as they had in early America.
However, the ending left me wondering if it had all been a dream. I hope not.
