So, so dumb!
Revisado: 04-02-23
I normally enjoy books by this author because they are fast paced and challenging. This is the exception. It is so unbelievably outlandish. Except for the narrator, this book was a total waste of time.

Historia
Walt thinks he might find the answers he's looking for among the ruins of an old Native American boarding school—an institution designed to strip Native children of their heritage. He has been haunted by the image of the Fort Pratt Industrial Indian Training School ever since he first saw a faded postcard picturing a hundred boys in uniform, in front of a large, ominous building—a postcard that was given to him by Jimmy Lane, the father of Jeanie One Moon.

When I get a Longmire book I expect a good story. SciFi/Horror is not my genre. I am thinking seriously about asking for a refund because this book was in no way enjoyable. I’m really disappointed.

Historia
The body was left in a dumpster like so much trash, the victim a woman of no fixed address, known for offering paper flowers in return for spare change - and for keeping the cops informed of any infractions she witnessed on the street. But the notebook where she scribbled her intel on litterers and other such offenders is nowhere to be found. Then Eve is summoned away to a nearby building site to view more remains - in this case decades old, adorned with gold jewelry and fine clothing - unearthed by recent construction work.

Great Book!
Revisado: 09-12-21
This book is a solid addition to the series. While the whole, huge cast of characters doesn’t appear, the ones that do have a role are meaningful. I love the growth in Eve as evidenced by her tolerance of Peabody talking about the house. I also love the fact that Eve is beginning to see herself more as others see her.

History has all but forgotten.... In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled James Stewart in Scotland to reclaim his crown. Now, Carrie McClelland hopes to turn that story into her next best-selling novel. Settling herself in the shadow of Slains Castle, she creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts to write. But then she discovers her novel is more fact than fiction....

Delightful Read!
Revisado: 04-17-21
Sometimes I just need a slower paced story to help me relax. This book filled the need. The farther into the story I got, the more intense the story became and the more it drew me in. I enjoyed the characters, the pace, the mix of history, the lack of unnecessary drama and sex. Just a good story, told well.

So, so dumb!
Revisado: 03-28-21
I got this book despite some bad reviews because I like Linda Howard, and I love to listen to Natalie Ross. But this story was just beyond stupid. The book desperately needed a good editor. Way, way too much of the story of the main character, and I get that she needed some time to grow. But that part could have been shortened by hours. Then when it finally got good, it was over. Plus the choices this PhD woman made were just so stupid. It was a really frustrating experience and I might ask for my credit back.

Revisado: 05-21-19
Based on other reviews I shipped this book and went on to the next. But if you skip this book, many storylines don’t make sense. There are so many nuances and changes within the family unit that are necessary to understand the story as a whole. I’m glad I went back and added this one to the series.

Finally!
Revisado: 01-19-18
Finally we get a book worthy of the Pendergast character. I really enjoyed seeing him in action as an FBI agent and an uncommonly brilliant man. Right up until the epilogue I had tremendous hope for this series. We shall see. But this book is a solid 9 out of 10 stars.
