Great story! Terrible narration.

I feel like this would have been a five star book had I read it rather than listened (recently broke my kindle screen though so I’m relying on audiobooks atm).
The story is unique and the characters complex. Starting the next one immediately! Hoping for a different narrator though because this one just didn’t do it for me.

Yes, Violet can be frustrating…but so worth the read!

If you can get past Violet being a bit of a baby (which also occurred in the first book, so…) this is great!
If you don’t enjoy being left on a cliff hanger you might not appreciate the ending, but overall I love this series and this book. I was hooked. Good writing, compelling story, and Yarros has created a world that’s easy to immerse yourself in.

This book has it all!

If you’re like me and you really enjoy fantasy books that don’t rely quite so heavily on steamy scenes (there’s all of like two such scenes in this book) but still have a worthy enemies to lovers feel, this is for you. While some of the plot is mildly predictable there were still parts that really threw me for a loop. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am off to get the second one on my kindle now!

Good… if you like slightly cringy young adult books!

Let me say, I loved the book. I can admit that the writing is subpar and it’s very comparable to every other teen/young adult fantasy love story. And if you’re like me and you’re a sucker for a good angsty Twilight wannabe series then you’ll probably enjoy this book. No shame. My only genuine annoyance is that some parts seem oddly drawn out unnecessarily, especially toward the end. But otherwise I’m happy with it!
