Historia
In You Can’t Joke About That, Kat Timpf shows why much of the way we talk about sensitive subjects is wrong. We’ve created all the wrong rules. We push ourselves into unnecessary conflicts when we should feel like we’re all in this together. When someone says “you can’t joke about that,” what they really mean is “this is a subject that makes people sad or angry.”

I listened to the whole book in one sitting and I enjoyed every minute of it. She holds nothing back about the many things she has and is going through and tells it with humor.

Historia
When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. But until now, fans have heard only Bella's side of the story. At last, listeners can experience Edward's version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun. This unforgettable tale as told through Edward's eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting Bella is both the most unnerving and intriguing event he has experienced in all his years as a vampire.

I loved re-visiting Twilight from Edward's point of view. I know some people did not like the narrator but I thought he was excellent!

I DNF’d with 7 hours left. I love most of Cassandra Claire’s books. But sadly I just did not care about any of these characters or the story.

Disappointing. All tell, no show.
Revisado: 09-11-18
There is very little dialogue in this book. John Grisham is very hit and miss for me, this one being a definite miss. January LaVoy is an excellent narrator, but she could not save this one. I really do not like this writing style. Even with an excellent narrator she still is just telling a story.

Historia
Taylor Edwards’ family might not be the closest-knit - everyone is a little too busy and overscheduled - but for the most part, they get along just fine. Then Taylor’s dad gets devastating news, and her parents decide that the family will spend one last summer all together at their old lake house in the Pocono Mountains. Crammed into a place much smaller and more rustic than they are used to, they begin to get to know each other again. And Taylor discovers that the people she thought she had left behind haven’t actually gone anywhere.

So Disappointing
Revisado: 12-03-17
I really thought I would love this book, but I could hardly finish it. I felt no connection to any of the characters, but I kept listening thinking it was going to get better. So many of the reviews I read commented on how they loved all the characters in this book, but I really did not care what happened to any of them. It is supposed to be set on Mars but listening to the story it could have been anywhere. There was no feel that it took place on Mars except the first few chapters. Many times when I do not connect to the characters in a book it is a book that is written in a style of "telling" and not "showing" that seems to the case in this book for me. Rounded up to 3 stars.

Mark, Todd, and Zola came to law school to change the world, to make it a better place. But now, as third-year students, these close friends realize they have been duped. They all borrowed heavily to attend a third-tier, for-profit law school so mediocre that its graduates rarely pass the bar exam, let alone get good jobs. And when they learn that their school is one of a chain owned by a shady New York hedge-fund operator who also happens to own a bank specializing in student loans, the three know they have been caught up in The Great Law School Scam.
