Historia
Raised in the wilderness by her late great-uncle, Vida is a young woman with an almost preternatural affinity for nature, especially for the wolves that also call the forested mountains home. Formed by hard experience, by love and loss, and by the prophecies of a fortuneteller, Vida just wants peace. If only nearby Kettleton County didn’t cast such a dark shadow.

I always love when good wins over evil and especially when evil pays dearly. Really loved the story and loved the strength and resilience of Vida. A really great listen with an exceptional reading.

Historia
Former spy Maggie Bird came to the seaside village of Purity, Maine, eager to put the past behind her after a mission went tragically wrong. These days, she’s living quietly on her chicken farm, still wary of blowback from the events that forced her early retirement. But when a body turns up in Maggie’s driveway, she knows it’s a message from former foes who haven’t forgotten her. Maggie turns to her local circle of old friends—all retirees from the CIA—to help uncover the truth about who is trying to kill her, and why.

A Great Spy Thriller
Revisado: 05-29-24
I truly loved The Spy Coast by Tess Garritsen. I am not usually for spy thrillers, but this held me from the first page to the last. Loved the characters and the story, but really loved The Martini “Book”Club that lightened the whole story line. Highly recommend and can’t wait for the second book.

A Good Story.
Revisado: 05-08-24
I listened to the audible tape of the Girl in the Woods and had a really difficult time with it. Perhaps it was because it was from a male point of view, which was a big surprise to me since I have listened to almost all of Kristen Ashley’s books, rather than reading them, and they have all (if I remember correctly) been in the female voice and point of view. The whole story line seemed so different from the others and I have heard a significant number having finished 9 to 10 of her series, 5 novels and a few 1001 Dark Nights stories. The overall story line was good but I kept asking where is the Girl in the Woods. There was only a minor mention, unless I missed something. The Girl in the Mist brought this into the story fairly quickly but this one did not and the titles did not really seem to be a big part of the actual stories. I liked the characters, Russ and Sin, and loved bringing the Bohannans and Delphine into this story. Really love the Bohannans!! Overall, the book was ok and struggled between 3 and 4 stars. I am glad I read it and have to say I liked the last chapters and how the story ended. But, I have hopes for a better story in the next book, The Woman by the Lake. I think I missed the really sassy but strong women which make her stories so fun for me.

Revisado: 04-06-24
When a story can make you happy, sad, cry, laugh, etc., what else can be asked for. Kristen Ashley does that in her stories and Bounty is a great end to a great series. I loved all the characters in this book as well as the entire series. The men and their attitudes are a little difficult to handle at times but played into the story perfectly. Highly recommend Kristen Ashley‘s Colorado Mountain Man series.

Historia
Pediatrician Kent Abner received the package on a beautiful April morning. Inside was a cheap trinket, a golden egg that could be opened into two halves. When he pried it apart, highly toxic airborne fumes entered his body - and killed him. After Eve Dallas calls the hazmat team - and undergoes testing to reassure both her and her husband that she hasn’t been exposed - it’s time to look into Dr. Abner’s past and relationships. Not every victim Eve encounters is an angel, but it seems that Abner came pretty close.

Historia
Dennis Mira just had two unpleasant surprises. First he learned that his cousin Edward was secretly meeting with a real estate agent about their late grandfather's magnificent West Village brownstone, despite the promise they both made to keep it in the family. Then, when he went to the house to confront Edward about it, he got a blunt object to the back of the head.

I love all of J. D. Robb’s In Death books but Brotherhood in Death is a favorite because it has Mr. Mira at the forefront of the story. I love Mr. Mira and his gentle soul. This was a very difficult story but as with all the other In Death stories, it is very well written, and very interesting.

Historia
It was a glittering event full of A-listers, hosted by Eliza Lane and Brant Fitzhugh, a celebrity couple who’d conquered both Hollywood and Broadway. And now Eve Dallas has made her entrance—but not as a guest. After raising a toast, Fitzhugh fell to the floor and died, with physical symptoms pointing to cyanide, and the police have crashed the party. From all accounts, he wasn’t the kind of star who made enemies. Everyone loved him—even his ex-wife. And since the champagne cocktail that killed him was originally intended for Eliza, it’s possible she was the real target.

Historia
Touring with four rockers is the thing of dreams - at least that is what people tell me. To me, those four rockers are my family. They have watched over me from the time I was five years old, protecting me from my mother and her drunken, drug-addicted rages. When they made it big, they still watched over me. And when my monster of a mother died, they took over as my guardians.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

A Great Story!
Revisado: 08-12-22
I loved Trevor Noah’s story. It made me laugh and made me sad and horrified for what he and so many in Africa went through, but I also learned a lot about apartheid. His outlook on life after all he and his family went through is inspiring and what we should all strive to achieve. A truly amazing man with a wonderful sense of humor and a true gift for telling a story.
