Really good story, but poor performance.
Revisado: 10-07-23
As other reviewers have said the narration is monotone and kind of puts me to sleep. I listen to a lot of books, and I enjoy 95% of them. I'm not sure if it was whiny voices, but the main characters (both the heroes and villains) and their actions were very unbelievable, they were all kind of inept. A guy's life search is finding a lost Cherokee treasure but he never visited the museum at the historic Cherokee capital? and it's only an hour from his house. Anyway, I got interested in they story but it was very painful to finish. I will try and get a refund.

Really disappointed at the horrible characters.
Revisado: 09-21-21
This was my first Joe Picket book, and I am so disappointed because I really like the main character and I love the premis of the book, but I do not like the author's style.
The narrator was very good, although one of his voices did sound like a batman spoof which was a little distracting, but overall it was very well read. I think I stuck with it so long because of the narrator.
I got about 8 hours into it, but I can't finish it. It has too much commentary on social and political opions. Outside of Joe and his family the rest of the characters are horrible. I have a very high tolerance for plot holes in stories, but this book is way over the top.
I can't express how disappointed I was. I was really excited that this might be a new series to enjoy.

Historia
James Dommek, Jr., an Alaska Native writer and musician, sheds new light on a real-life mystery that pits Native American folklore against the US justice system. In the vast Alaskan Arctic, legend has it there once lived a mythic tribe—Iñukuns—that only existed in rumors and whispers. This changed forever when an actor-turned-fugitive, Teddy Kyle Smith, had an encounter that brought Iñukuns from myth to reality. Smith was an aspiring actor with a promising career until it all came quickly crashing down with a gunshot, a manhunt, bloodshed, and other frightful events.

This is a podcast but I really enjoyed the story.
Revisado: 11-15-19
I listen to it all-in-one day, It is very entertaining. It's really more of a Podcast it has a lot of the actual recordings. The author/narrator does a great job of setting up and telling the story. The music and other sound effects perfectly complemented the story. I didn't realize it was a true story at 1st, but I ended up researching it more on the Internet.

Not quite as great as the 1st series.
Revisado: 11-04-19
The 1st 3 books were amazing I love the way the POV changes and then he ties it all together. This book did not do that as much, Still a masterful story butI find it a little more tedious when you only have a single POV. The story moves quicker in the beginning, But I found the end dragged out a little bit.
Can't wait for the rest of the series

Best audio series ever
Revisado: 10-29-19
I listen to a lot of audio books , 30 hours a week or more. While the narration of this series is as good as it gets it was the story that really made it for me. I'm surprised that after 75 hours of this series, I'm left wanting more. The story was a beautiful marriage of Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. It might be that it makes a better audio book then actual literature, but as an audiobook it's as good as it gets. While the Game of Thrones books haven't been finished yet, I was disappointed on how much is left unexplained by the TV series. This series leaves less unexplained. I'm extatic that there are more books.
