When will authors and their teams figure out its not the best idea to try to fool people into thinking a story is something it's not. Once again we are led to believe this is at least somewhat of a story of discovery but isn't at all.

Great but seemingly unfinished

I loved the book until I got to the end. First, the second to the last chapter was repeated for so e reason. Second, the story just ends with no actual resolution of anything as if there's a second book that you must buy to get the complete story.

In a word: Disappointing

I waited for this book to come because I liked the previous book in the series. I know Astrid was portrayed as somewhat stuck up in that book and she was not nice in the first interaction with Jordan, but, and I'm only a couple of hours in, the way her character is treated by all, and especially Jordan, I'm pretty sure there is no way the author will be able to make that redeemable in my eyes. I also hate the whole modern bashing bull. Save that stupidity for Hallmark movies. This is a hot take and, if I'm proven wrong and the author does manage to change my mind about either issue, I will be back to update it.

Update: I finished the book and the overall story idea was good but it was ruined by the way Jordan's character was written. Poor Astrid finds the female version of her ex, Spencer. Jordan is a conniving, gaslighting, jerk who never really apologizes completely for the fact that she intentionally undermined Astrid and basically blackmailed her into doing the things for which Astrid eventually apologizes to Jordan. I ended up disliking Jordan's chatting so much that I was hoping Astrid would get together with Jordan's ex, Meredith, and both would send a big screw you to Jordan.

This book, while I don't believe it to be intentional, is definitely the type that some people will use to push trans phobia. I have loved many of her others but am very leary of her writing now.

What A Thrill Ride

This was the first Cari Hunter book I listened to and it definitely grabbed me enough to purchase more. I SO want to see this as a movie. It kind reminds me of Shooter with Mark Wahlberg in that one main character is a injured early on and enlists another main character to patch them up and help clear their name. It also shares there same three character dynamic with the military background character, the healing love interest, and the law enforcement officer that realizes their innocence and works to help them.
