Amazing.
Revisado: 07-23-18
What a fantastic and meaningful listen. It is a relatively short audiobook but it really packs a punch. This fable had me very inspired and provided an almost calming effect whilst listening.
Jeremy Irons is a master narrator, if I see his name on a narration, I will more times than not get the book. Lolita was equally as stunning a performance.
I am going to be repeatedly revisiting this fable.

Turning to the world of mortals for companionship, she discovers that she does possess power—the power of witchcraft, which can transform rivals into monsters and menace the gods themselves.

Truly fantastic
Revisado: 06-19-18
I lucked out with Madeline Miller, I only discovered The Song of Achilles some months ago, was completely riveted and to my pleasure found out Circe had just been released...not realizing it was actually written almost a decade later, I couldn't imagine waiting that long having just finished Circe.
If you've listened to Song of Achilles then you know how spectacular Millers prose is, her writing style and deliverance of story are truly wonderful.
Some reviews complain that the story levels out as she is alone for a good portion but I couldn't disagree more, it gives you a proper introspective view of Circe and how she sees herself as a diety, longing for more out of her life.
Ms. Weeks nails the narration as well, she complimented all characters perfectly. I could feel the emotions all throughout the story.
I am by no means a mythology buff or historian but I highly recommend Circe and Song of Achilles to anyone looking to get lost in a fantastic novel.

In this straightforward handbook, he gives you the tools and advice you need to demolish the slag weighing you down and become the truly unf--ked version of yourself. "Wake up to the miracle you are," he directs. "Here's what you've forgotten: You're a f--king miracle of being." It isn't other people that are standing in your way; it isn't even your circumstances that are blocking your ability to thrive. It's yourself and the negative self-talk you keep telling yourself.

Great Efficient and Effective Listen
Revisado: 05-25-18
This was a fantastic listen. Gary John Bishop's narration made this book that much better. I doubt I'd of enjoyed it as much had I read it.
I wasnt actively seeking a "self help" type book but was told by a friend that this book had enough subtle humor that I'd enjoy it and they weren't wrong and further, I got some advice I didn't even know I was looking for.
Definitely a recommended read for those looking for a bit of a kick in the ass without all the BS you get in the majority of other books on the topics of achieving your goals etc.

Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

Remarkable
Revisado: 05-01-18
I can't say much more about this incredible book or its performance that hasn't already been said by the numerous other reviews. My only constructive input is that I rarely, if ever, reach for books in the genre of fantasy or myth, for no other reason than I just prefer other topics and styles of literature but this book was absolutely gripping. I couldn't stop listening. I have read the Iliad before, during uni, and was pleasantly surprised by how close to the accounts of Homer's the author kept the storyline, all the while creating tremendous backstories for both the heroines and adversaries alike.

Stunning performance
Revisado: 03-12-18
I've listened to numerous genres of books and with that comes various different performance types and styles. This was by far one of the best audio performances I've ever heard. Tim Robbins is truely a magnificent artist and did Ray Bradbury's story absolute justice.
The story itself was also very enjoyable for my first time through it. The themes and topics were quite interesting especially for some of the foreshadowing Bradbury did regarding modern society's relationship with media.
Would recommend this book.

Cool insight into the mind of a great chef
Revisado: 02-06-18
This was a great listen for the most part. Marcus' narration style was definitely unique, i.e. cadence and style, but I think it worked well in telling his story.
There are some rushed parts towards the end and seemingly unrelated segways that were confusing to the underlying themes but overall was a great listen.

Historia
Professional journalist and amateur drinker Bianca Bosker didn’t know much about wine - until she discovered an alternate universe where taste reigns supreme, a world of elite sommeliers who dedicate their lives to the pursuit of flavor. Astounded by their fervor and seemingly superhuman sensory powers, she set out to uncover what drove their obsession and whether she, too, could become a “cork dork”.

Root and essence of an obsession
Revisado: 10-26-17
This read was overall quite informative and very well written / performed. Bianca pulled aside some of the curtains to show what, seemingly, goes on in the world of a somm. As a non-member of the industry it was great to hear that side of the wine world and all that goes on. Has definitely changed the way I look at wine and given me some tools to be a more informed drinker.
Had a bit of an issue with the authors kind of self-indulgent, egocentric tone as the book progressed. There were times were it sounded like she was pumping her own tires quite actively, as if to convey how amazing she is as a neophyte coming in and turning heads so quickly and also showing off that she 'got' a seat at the table with some of NYs top somms. Story also glossed over how she was financing this monumental journey from novice to certified expert.

Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.
