nice story
Revisado: 06-23-24
It was a nice story, but I wouldn't call it gripping or compelling. I wanted to finish it but would have been ok not to. There wasn't really much to find out in the end.

Historia
At times stern, at other times patient, at times perceptive, at other times in sad denial, Olive Kitteridge, a retired schoolteacher, deplores the changes in her little town of Crosby, Maine, and in the world at large, but she doesn’t always recognize the changes in those around her: a lounge musician haunted by a past romance; a former student who has lost the will to live; Olive’s own adult child, who feels tyrannized by her irrational sensitivities; and her husband, Henry, who finds his loyalty to his marriage both a blessing and a curse.

Historia
A masterpiece of satire, this classic has entertained and enlightened readers the world over with its sly and ironic portrayal of human life and foibles from the vantage point of Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to "Our Father Below". At once wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, C.S. Lewis gives us the correspondence of the worldly-wise old Devil to his nephew, Wormwood, a novice demon in charge of securing the damnation of an ordinary young man.

I'm sure the book is great for someone else...
Revisado: 11-17-20
For me, the book was hard to follow. the moment my mind started wandering to other things going on in my life, I couldn't seem to get back into the book. It just seemed to ramble on. I know C.S. Lewis is well regarded so it must just be me. I understood the gist of the book, but the details didn't keep my interest. Hopefully others get more out of it than I did.

Read it for a book club, but would not recommend
Revisado: 09-20-20
The narration was good through audible, but I couldn't get myself to really care about the storyline. The characters were fairly well developed but none were really likeable. The topic felt shallow. Maybe that was the point, to point out how addicted many of us are to social media and luxury items, but it wasn't worth reading a book about it.
