Historia
Jimmy the Hand, boy thief of Krondor, lived in the shadows of the city. Though gifted beyond his peers, Jimmy is merely a pickpocket with potential - until he aids Prince Arutha in the rescue of Princess Anita from Duke Guy du Bas-Tyra and runs afoul of "Black Guy's" secret police. Facing a choice between disappearing on his own or in a weighted barrel at the bottom of Krondor's harbor, Jimmy chooses the former.

Rollicking good fun
Revisado: 12-09-24
I find these stories good fun, mostly satisfying, not gruesome or overly graphic, and with interesting characters, fun scenarios, and satisfying endings. This story was my favorite so far, and will be relistening to it because I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Historia
To the forest on the shore of the Kingdom of the Isles, the orphan Pug came to study with the master magician Kulgan. But though his courage won him a place at court and the heart of a lovely princess, he was ill at ease with the normal ways of wizardry. Yet Pug's strange sort of magic would one day change forever the fates of two worlds. For dark beings from another world had opened a rift in the fabric of spacetime to being again the age-old battle between the forces of Order and Chaos.

Historia
Modern culture is increasingly outspoken against a biblical understanding of what it means to be a woman. Even some Christians, swayed by the LGBTQ+ movement, have rejected God’s word on issues of sexuality and gender in favor of popular opinion. In light of these pressures, it’s more important than ever to help women see the truth about who God created them to be. In this powerful book, Rosaria Butterfield uses Scripture to confront 5 common lies about sexuality, faith, feminism, gender roles, and modesty often promoted in our secular culture today.

Outstanding Book
- De Jared Hageman en 11-14-23
Fantastic resource for Christians, and for those with questions
Revisado: 05-04-24
This is a fantastic book covering the biblical perspective of several current cultural issues. Each could be it's own book, but Dr. Butterfield weaves each together, showing how each can relate or feed the other, and each has its root in certain unbiblical commitments or misunderstandings. Get heart is primarily for people trapped in these lies, or who might be susceptible to becoming trapped. She deals with the subjects with care and concern but with strength and no qualifications or overly broad "wiggle room". She calls sons what they are and desires to help people understand and repent, not find a middle way of compromise where sin could be nurtured further. Excellent book for this age, must-read, and probably should have a copy or two to hand out.

Excellent exploration of the ideas and trends that got us here, and hope for the future
Revisado: 02-24-24
I've been recommended many books by Esolen, but this is the first I've gotten around to reading. A fantastic exploration of the culture and foundations of western civilization. I need to re read slowly and take notes this time, it's very rich, and sometimes the connections/quotes/concepts come so quickly and closer together that I can't follow my own thoughts if I want to keep going to follow Esolen. Great read, and an important read for our time.

Excellent exploration of the ways Christianity tangible blesses the culture and world
Revisado: 02-03-24
The author's perspective and experience are relayed in a fresh and informative easy. Some is the facts and trends on here I was familiar with but many were new and some completely unexpected. I listened to the audio version but I will be buying a hardcopy to keep and refer back to. I will probably be getting several other copies to give away as well. The modern narrative is that Christians rob, ruin and degrade civilization, but this book tells a story of a people who are committed to really loving their neighbors and blessing the world out of that love. Fantastic stuff.

Historia
It is indifference that leaves people alone and allows them to go their own way. It is love, tender love, that warns them and raises the cry of alarm. The cry of “Fire! Fire!” at midnight might sometimes rudely, harshly, and unpleasantly startle a person out of his sleep, but who would complain if that cry was the means of saving his life? The words except you repent, you will all likewise perish might at first seem stern and severe, but they are words of love, and they could be the means of delivering precious souls from hell.

David Murrow's groundbreaking new book reveals why men are the world's largest unreached people group. With eye-opening research and a persuasive grasp on the facts, Murrow explains the problem and offers hope and encouragement to women, pastors, and men. Why Men Hate Going to Church does not call men back to the church - it calls the church back to men.

Historia
In Disunited Nations, geopolitical strategist Peter Zeihan presents a series of counterintuitive arguments about the future of a world where trade agreements are coming apart and international institutions are losing their power. Germany will decline as the most powerful country in Europe, with France taking its place. Every country should prepare for the collapse of China, not North Korea. We are already seeing, as Zeihan predicts, a shift in outlook on the Middle East: it is no longer Iran that is the region’s most dangerous threat, but Saudi Arabia.

Continuing to enjoy these books. Not sure to the extent I am on board with the extent of the change Zeihan predicts, but it is very helpful to think through the factors and the dynamics involved. Many of these predictions are probably correct in direction of not in magnitude. Helpful analysis of the world and its many moving parts at a high level.
