Historia
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

What a narrator!
Revisado: 01-15-25
This narrator brought new voices to many characters realistically and without mistakes. He was so good I can’t separate his voice from the experience of the story. What a sad sad story. The Trump-like villain in Rennie was so awful I was afraid of what he’d do. In the end this is still a sad and violent story of misguided people with a hopeful ending.

Five years ago, the mysterious and inscrutable head of Effective Engineering Solutions, Eli Glinn, led a mission to recover a gigantic meteorite - the largest ever discovered - from a remote island off the coast of South America. The mission ended in disaster when their ship, the Rolvaag, foundered in a vicious storm in the Antarctic waters and broke apart, sinking - along with its unique cargo - to the ocean floor. One hundred and eight crew members perished, and Eli Glinn was left paralyzed.

Hard to put down
Revisado: 12-09-24
These authors can grab your attention and immerse you into almost any story. There were long parts of this which without being part of the bigger story just would have been tedious. The anger and actions of the chilean captain were not believable or interesting to me. They were however well written and integral to the outcome of the story. I do recommend this book.

Historia
On a cold January morning in 1981, a knock on an apartment door began what would become one of the bloodiest crime sprees in Arkansas history. In the coming days the bodies of newlyweds Larry and Jawana Price, businessman Holly Gentry, and Police Detective Ray Tate were discovered. They had been executed in cold blood and discarded like so much trash. What kind of person murders four people in cold blood? Did the right one go to prison?

Actually scary
Revisado: 11-09-24
I personally loved the different accents. The setting was outstanding, deep and dark woods, old and rotten house, scary was really scary. Characters were likable or not. Pace was fast. A little predictable at times. All in all fun to listen to and I think I’ll try more by this author.

Historia
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

The courtroom was the best of this book. Not my cup of tea to go through all the moralizing and experiences of religious traditions. I wouldn’t read this again.

Historia
Over 13 months in 1976-1977, four children were abducted in the Detroit suburbs, each of them held for days before their still-warm bodies were dumped in the snow near public roadsides. The Oakland County Child Murders spawned panic across southeast Michigan, triggering the most extensive manhunt in US history. Yet after less than two years, the task force created to find the killer was shut down without naming a suspect.

While the narrator used expression in her reading, the ongoing slew of details, names, dates, incidents, etc., was almost unbearable to listen to. I do not recommend this book.
