Historia
Logen Ninefingers, infamous barbarian, has finally run out of luck. Caught in one feud too many, he's on the verge of becoming a dead barbarian - leaving nothing behind him but bad songs, dead friends, and a lot of happy enemies. Nobleman, dashing officer, and paragon of selfishness, Captain Jezal dan Luthar has nothing more dangerous in mind than fleecing his friends at cards and dreaming of glory in the fencing circle. But war is brewing, and on the battlefields of the frozen North they fight by altogether bloodier rules.

Great read
Revisado: 07-02-24
I really enjoyed this book. It was quite different than other stories in this genre. Diana was certainly a BA but so likable. And Liam’s story was heartbreaking and well done. My only criticism was the narrator’s voice for Liam was not as I pictured him. Yes he’s a god, but her portrayal was way too harsh, her voice remain the same, no matter of his growth. I read the book on Kindle as a tandem listen, and I enjoyed reading the characters much more than hearing them speak…. again I think, because of the narrator’s voice. Onward to book 2!!

Depressing and Disappointing read
Revisado: 06-17-24
I had such high hopes when I saw that book was a National Best seller. I grew up on a farm in Maryland, where my grandfather and his father before him grew hundreds of acres of Strawberries. They too depended on ‘ berry pickers that would walk from Florida to Maine following the seasonal berries that needed picking. My grandfather and father would load the berries on a train bound for NYC. Theirs is a fascinating story of Joy relationships renewed every season and sometimes heartbreak.
This book had no joy only heartbreak and topics that were depressing. by chapter 7, I was ready to give up, but felt I owed it to this story that it perhaps it would redeem itself. But now we had to cover every tragic trope that has ever been written. It was not an enlightening read, nor was it a easy read the narration was fair at best. John was portrayed with so much self-pity, Ruth/Nora fared better. I really would not recommend this book.

Months earlier, Martha documented the details of an alleged rape committed by two of the town’s most respected gentlemen—one of whom has now been found dead in the ice.

Narrator made all the difference
Revisado: 06-11-24
The Frozen River was a intriguing story about a midwife Mary Ballard. I am so happy I chose to do this book on audible. Friends have read this book and found it difficult going. I think the narrator made destroy come alive, flow in a story heavy on description. I will admit I had to Effie staying with the story for the first four or five chapters but then I became fully engaged thanks to the narrator

Disappointing second book in the series
Revisado: 04-21-24
I read book one, Kiss of Iron on my Kindle, and really enjoyed enjoyed the relationship between Kat and Bastian. this book I decided to listen to as an audiobook. Will Bastian ever be the same for me? I did not enjoy the male, I thought his voice and the pacing of his dialogue was not as I imagined Bastian. However, the female narrator nailed cat perfectly. I thought the story was too drawn out, try to introduce too many subplots. Many of the supporting characters were developed in previous books. Therefore, I was at a disadvantage initially. This was a complete opposite of the first book, it just got bogged down and Kats trauma was real, but the resolution of that took almost the entire book. I guess I’m committed to reading book 3, but I will not continue with the audiobook for the next book

Not the best

I DNF this audible book. The beginning had such potential but the voices for some of the characters were grating at times. This was a book I saw as a review on Tok Tok but I regret the purchase.
