Good
Revisado: 03-08-22
It's an interesting, engaging story. There was some predictability, but also an unexpected twist or two. Witemeyer never fails to bring out an entertaining, funny story that keeps you engrossed. it's not a five stars because I reserve that rating for things that are exceptional.

DUMP THIS READER, PLEASE.
Revisado: 02-14-22
As usual, Karen Witemeyer delivered an excellent story that keeps you fully engaged.
Recorded Books should be lynched though, for allowing a reader who can't go a full chapter without mispronouncing at least two words. To say nothing of her nearly indiscernible/hushed tone that you had to be right beside the speaker to understand.
GET RID OF JEANINE BARTEL, RECORDED BOOKS!!!!! What a let-down, after the excellent job Amy Rubinate did on _At Love's Command_. I feel like I've been cheated out of my credit.

Historia
Come home to Hope Harbor - where hearts heal...and love blooms. Tracy Campbell never wanted to leave Hope Harbor, Oregon, or the idyllic three-generation cranberry farm where she grew up. But life - and love - altered her plans. Now she's home again - with a floundering farm to run...a tragic secret...and a wounded heart. Romance is not on her agenda. Nor is it on Michael Hunter's. The visitor from Chicago has daunting secrets and devastating regrets of his own.

I enjoyed the story very much. It was a great change it pace from crazy action/ murder stories. The narrator is ok, but she mispronounces a who'd, here and there.

Historia
The practice of ministering to the widows and orphans is reflected in this story of Christina Willems, a young woman from Kansas, in 1884, who is determined to reopen the poor farm she manages after a fire devastates the property. She finds opposition from many surprising corners but an unlikely ally in a lumber mill owner who wants nothing more than to hold himself aloof from the world and its troubles. Levi Jonnson agrees to take care of one of the poor farm residents, a young blind boy - and in doing so opens himself up to Christina's world in ways he wouldn't have imagined.

...but a self-centered heroine who is more frustrating than admirable. She is constantly jealous that she's not the only person receiving gratitude or being praised. The author created a woman who is trying to appear as strong as any man, but comes off a shrew.

Okay
Revisado: 11-11-19
When someone creates a character from another part of the country, they really need to visit the place, maybe go to a festival and speak with locally-born residents.
People from Kentucky don't really use "cougar" in place of "mountain lion." Not paying attention to local dialect can really mess with the believability of a story.

Story: Don't bother to read/listen to any more. If you've heard any of Irene Hannon's "Men of Valor" because this has too many similarities. They're both Dee Henderson copycats. No originality to the stories. VERY PREDICTABLE.
Religion: The characters randomly pray and acknowledge their need of God, but ONLY asking for help. No church attendance. Basically a nodding acquaintance with a Creator.
Narrator: Pleasant voice, but at time she gets so quiet that you can't make it her words without blasting your eardrums the rest of the time.

Nice Story
Revisado: 09-08-17
Interesting, though more in the style of a 19th century novel. It shows the depth of Gilbert Morris as a writer, not needing to fill every story with hideous catastrophe or heart-wrenching romance, so typical of most Christian fiction authors. I enjoyed the historical references to the Crimean War.
