Historia
Claire Thompson's trip to the family beach house has gotten far more complicated than she'd ever expected. Grieving her late husband's sudden death, Claire and her daughter, along with Claire's sister and mom, are struggling to make sense of the mess he's left them with. How on earth did he have another family she never knew about? How did he keep that secret for so many years? Claire fights with her feelings as she tries to find a way forward. All she really knows is that her husband wasn't the man she thought he was.

Narrators style
Revisado: 12-19-24
Difficult to listen to at times due to narrators habit of ending most sentences on a high note. Does great job on different voices and doesn’t always end on high note with them.

Historia
Texas, 1921. A time of abundance. The Great War is over, the bounty of the land is plentiful, and America is on the brink of a new and optimistic era. But for Elsa Wolcott, deemed too old to marry in a time when marriage is a woman’s only option, the future seems bleak. Until the night she meets Rafe Martinelli. By 1934, the world has changed; millions are out of work and drought has devastated the Great Plains. Elsa must make an agonizing choice: fight for the land she loves or leave it behind and go west, to California, in search of a better life for her family.

Can’t stop listening and comparing!
Revisado: 01-01-23
Poignant story, characters come to life! Narration is perfection. Couldn’t stop listening!! Parallels with how migrant workers are underpaid, overworked, doing backbreaking work and are disenfranchised and ignored. The rich often get rich off the backs of others!

Enjoying the story.
Revisado: 12-17-22
Love the stories and the narrator is amazing. One thing that irritates me is all of the he said and she said. You know who is speaking with the first one. Other than that love it.

Historia
B.J. Clark despised him. As the manager of the Lakeside Inn, she could only feel contempt for Taylor Reynolds, the man who had bought the hotel. His reputation for transforming lovely hotels into modern resorts preceded him. But when Taylor arrives, B. J.'s loyalties become divided between the hotel and staff and the hot, torrid kisses that she and Taylor share.

“Me too”!
Revisado: 05-18-18
I kept waiting for BJ to report Taylor for harassment!! The characters were not well developed and the plot was week.
Big disappointment! Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors but this book missed the mark.

Historia
In the mid-70s, Steve Martin exploded onto the comedy scene. By 1978 he was the biggest concert draw in the history of stand-up. In 1981 he quit forever. Born Standing Up is, in his own words, the story of "why I did stand-up and why I walked away".

Boring
Revisado: 03-25-16
I felt that Steve Martin was really a book written by someone else. His projection and tone were dry and often listless as if he didn't find the story any more interesting than I did. I finally gave up~ the book was not interesting nor entertaining. Hopefully Mr. Martin was able to work through his life issues during this process so that he can continue on the big screen, which is where he belongs!
