The narrator was the best part of this story. I could not have listened to the entirety without him.

I stuck with it hoping he would stop describing every scene a hundred times…but hope. Listening to the female narrator was PAINFUL!
Time to hang up the pen.

Not a bad book, just wondering why the narrator makes old Norwegians sound like leprechauns?

When the Saulnier sisters suffer one disappointment too many in their native France, they decide to pack up and try their luck in America. As journalists, they have the run of the country, following stories that take them to places where most Americans have never been - from the back roads of Appalachia to an underground village of homeless people in the New York City subway system. And along the way, they dine on: Nathan's Famous hot dogs at the annual hot dog-eating contest in Coney Island.

It's true that Maria Konnikova had never actually played poker before and didn't even know the rules when she approached Erik Seidel, Poker Hall of Fame inductee and winner of tens of millions of dollars in earnings, and convinced him to be her mentor. But she knew her man: a famously thoughtful and broad-minded player, he was intrigued by her pitch that she wasn't interested in making money so much as learning about life.

Enjoyed the inside look at pro poker play. Is it really a life lesson or a surprise that having the money to commit to something full time, having the world’s best players, coaches and sports psychologists in your corner will help you achieve your goal??

Stick to writing and leave the narrating to...well anybody else!
If you have anything equal to or more than elementary French do not listen to this book, do yourself a favor and read it because his French is incomprehensible. The book may be good but I couldn’t ignore the train wreck, why not hire a French language consultant if you don’t know what you are saying??!!
He often puts an “r” where there isn’t one and painstakingly exaggerates the guttural “r”s to the point where the name or word is incomprehensible.
The most frustrating is his not knowing that many words end with a silent letter, for instance... Lyon...a city he supposedly lived in for five years is pronounced Lyonne more often than not!!!
Stick to writing!
