Author John Beckett helps you develop a detailed understanding of practical knowledge as well as ideas for working through new challenges you'll encounter as you advance in your practice, such as what happens when a deity makes demands of you, how to form and sustain community, and how to lead a community as a medium for the divine.

Wonderful Exploration
Revisado: 02-28-23
John is thoughtful and thorough in exploring this topic. I much prefer this depth to the first book he released on the topic. The narrator is good too, he has the right tone for the subject matter and is both engaging and soothing to listen to.

Such an excellent resource
Revisado: 01-22-23
Morgan is one of the most honest and engaging writers on the subject. This book adds information on practice of witchcraft which is good but not groundbreaking but I mostly just want her stories and research on the other folk. The narrator is not bad but can be a bit harsh and fast takling

Historia
When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. But until now, fans have heard only Bella's side of the story. At last, listeners can experience Edward's version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun. This unforgettable tale as told through Edward's eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting Bella is both the most unnerving and intriguing event he has experienced in all his years as a vampire.

I was surprised how little detail or variation is added to Edwards thoughts or perspective in the first half of the book but slowly Stephanie gains more interest in developing him making the overall ending worth it.

In the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born. But Circe is a strange child—not powerful, like her father, nor viciously alluring like her mother. Turning to the world of mortals for companionship, she discovers that she does possess power—the power of witchcraft, which can transform rivals into monsters and menace the gods themselves.

Historia
Towards the end of the 19th century and for the first few years of the 20th, a strange invasion took place in Britain. The citadel of power, privilege, and breeding in which the titled, land-owning governing class had barricaded itself for so long was breached. The incomers were a group of young women who, 50 years earlier, would have been looked on as the alien denizens of another world - the New World, to be precise. From 1874 - the year that Jennie Jerome, the first known "Dollar Princess", married Randolph Churchill - to 1905, dozens of young American heiresses married into the British peerage....

New and Old Stories delightfully told
Revisado: 12-15-18
I'm a bit obsessed with real life stories of the Gilded Age Heiresses. So I was afraid to get this book afraid it was just going to be rehash, but while some of the stories will be very familiar to anyone in love with this era (such as Consuelo Vanderbilt and Jennie Jerome) there were plenty of new details and perspectives I had never heard before and they were all woven together in a delightful way. The narrator is excellent and does the America quotes very well.

Historia
Ancient Egyptian civilization is so grand our minds sometimes have difficulty adjusting to it. It lasted 3,000 years, longer than any other on the planet. Its Great Pyramid of Cheops was the tallest building in the world until well into the 19th century and remains the only Ancient Wonder still standing. And it was the most technologically advanced of the ancient civilizations, with the medical knowledge that made Egyptian physicians the most famous in the world.

Everything about the Professors approach and information is admirable amd interesting...except his imcessant "ummm", which by the end is every few words. I merely found it distracting but it may be too distracting for some to focus on the awesome information.

Winner of the 1921 Pulitzer Prize, The Age of Innocence is Edith Wharton’s masterful portrait of desire and betrayal which takes place in the sumptuous Golden Age of Old New York, and questions the morals and assumptions of the elite New York society set in the 1870s when "scandal was more dreaded than disease."

I got this because I thought the parts of Joanne Woodward's narration in Scorcese's film adaption werer a eally brilliant addition to the movie. I wish it wasn't an abridged edition but all the main story is there and it was very enjoyable.

From the Gilded Age until 1914, more than 100 American heiresses invaded Britannia and swapped dollars for titles - just like Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham, the first of the Downton Abbey characters Julian Fellowes was inspired to create after reading To Marry An English Lord. Filled with vivid personalities, gossipy anecdotes, grand houses, and a wealth of period details-plus quotes and the finer points of Victorian and Edwardian etiquette - To Marry An English Lord is social history at its liveliest and most accessible.

Historia
The Great Recession has shuffled Clay Jannon out of his life as a San Francisco Web-design drone - and serendipity, sheer curiosity, and the ability to climb a ladder like a monkey has landed him a new gig working the night shift at Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore. But after just a few days on the job, Clay begins to realize that this store is even more curious than the name suggests. There are only a few customers, but they come in repeatedly and never seem to actually buy anything....

Funny and endearing narrator
Revisado: 02-05-15
Both the story's fictional narrator and the actual audio narrator are what make this story so enjoyable for me. Clay's life observations of a tech nerd's jobless experience in the uber successful tech mecca of San Francisco were laugh aloud funny as presented by the Ari Fliakos. His dry comedic beats are perfect. He is funny because he is not trying to be.
The mysterious story...I did not enjoy quite as much. It's interesting enough, but I felt plot points consistently arrived rather late. I may not have finished if I hadn't liked the main characters observations so much.
