What did you love best about Eiffel's Tower?

Who knew? Well, I suppose plenty of people knew about the story surrounding the Tower and its World's Fair, but I'm willing to bet that 90% of folks who have posed for pictures with the Tower in the background are completely clueless of the fascinating stories surrounding its development and first year of life.

Buffalo Bill, Van Gogh, the Panama Canal, and Thomas Edison -- all in one intriguing story of civic anguish and pride.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There was definitely a giggle periodically.

Would you try another book from Adventures of Nero Wolfe and/or the narrator?

If you love Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe books, don't bother with these mere recordings of the old radio show. Terrible actors and truncated plots seem to be the norm. All the sparkle and verve of a real Rex Stout book is missing here.

If you're an old radio fan and you don't know anything about Nero Wolfe, than you might be fine. But I come away wondering if it is possible to give negative stars.

Would you ever listen to anything by Adventures of Nero Wolfe again?

Nope-- I'm steering clear of all recordings of old radio shows from now on.

How could the performance have been better?

In so many ways it's not really worth bothering about. It would be like trying to fix a volkswagen after it got accordianed between two semis.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Dismay and disappointment.

Would you consider the audio edition of A Study in Emerald to be better than the print version?

.... as usual. Just what you should expect from Gaiman. Flawless reading and plotting. A perfect story that just wraps you up and carries you along.

What about Neil Gaiman’s performance did you like?

What sets Gaiman's reading apart from the usual cast of actors who so audio tracks is the simple ease with which he reads. He's not just reading the story, he's telling it, but he does it so well that he manages to not become a character himself.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and I did too.
