There was a turning point where the killing became too much
Revisado: 02-28-25
Listening to this book, I loved it at first. But there was a turning point where it became so dark and so weird and so disturbing that it just crossed the line for me. I don’t wanna give away any spoilers. Of course I downloaded the next four books in the series Before it reached that turning point because I had already loved it so much. Now I’m not so sure if I want to listen to them. But I probably will. Loved the narrator so much. The writing was excellent, the dark sarcasm, that dry British humor… Loved all of that. The last quarter of the book though it sort of went downhill for me

Unbeknownst to Mark’s family, he had been active in a Reddit community fixated on Angie, and Teddy can’t help but fall down the same rabbit hole. Teddy’s investigation quickly gets her in hot water with her gun-nut boyfriend, her long-lost half brother, and her colleagues at the prestigious high school where she teaches English.

Depressing and weird.
Revisado: 01-30-25
Wasn’t a big fan of this one. Story fell short and got very weird in some parts. Super depressing. The twist was extremely predictable and hardly a twist. The whole time I was questioning why the main character just randomly befriended this girl who seemed sus from the start and then just immediately felt comfortable with her, ignoring all the very obvious red flags. Narrator was very monotone and had a thick midwestern accent but was supposed to be New England based. Wasn’t a big fan.

“Egg” ruined this book
Revisado: 09-27-20
I was enjoying it until this guy started speaking. Omg his story line is boring and the voice is painful to listen to. An overdone fake accent, bad acting and vocal fry.
Nothing like You or Hidden Bodies but I know that’s the idea, an author shouldn’t be one dimensional, and the story is somewhat interesting, but I can barely get through it because of that detective and his voice. The girl who plays Chloe is also way too dramatic. Jon’s voice though is very sexy. He should have narrated the whole thing
