Historia
At last, the full story behind Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman's epic romance, including stories, portraits, and the occasional puzzle. How did they do it? They came from completely different families, endured a significant age difference, and were separated by the gulf of several social strata. Megan loved books and art history; Nick loved hammers. But much more than these seemingly unsurpassable obstacles were the values they held in common: respect, decency, the ability to mention genitalia in almost any context, and an abiding obsession with the songs of Tom Waits.

I didn’t know much about the author, except her name. It was interesting to hear her story and in her voice. I will be sad when she dies.

Historia
Rainn Wilson’s memoir about growing up geeky and finally finding his place in comedy, faith, and life. For nine seasons Rainn Wilson played Dwight Schrute, everyone's favorite work nemesis and beet farmer. Viewers of The Office fell in love with the character and grew to love the actor who played him even more. Rainn founded a website and media company, SoulPancake, that eventually became a best-selling book of the same name. He also started a hilarious Twitter feed (sample tweet: “I'm not on Facebook” is the new “I don't even own a TV”).

Beet Farmer’s Book
Revisado: 10-31-22
I love Rainn Wilson even more now. I had no idea he actually was a talented actor! But seriously, the story of his growing up, his religious beliefs, and the good he does in the world really warmed my aching heart. He’s a treasure, and he has given me the best hearty laughs I ever had watching The Office. Indelibly etched into my soul, is Dwight Schrute. Long live the Bassoon King! He’s someone I’d definitely say Hi to in real life. Get the book, it’s hard to stop once you press play.

Historia
Receptionist Pam Beesly and accountant Angela Martin had very little in common when they toiled together at Scranton’s Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. But, in reality, the two bonded in their very first days on set and, over the nine seasons of the series’ run, built a friendship that transcended the show and continues to this day.

If you enjoy watching The Office, USA, at least once, then listening to these ladies is a wonderful treat. Feelings that you had whilst enjoying the series on TV gush right back. I loved this book. I also loved Rainn Wilson’s book. These actors from The Office have made me laugh and hope. And hearing them narrate their book is really what makes it golden, with a big dab of icing on the top. It’s a yes from me.

Historia
How identity politics failed one particular identity. Jews Don’t Count is an audiobook for people who consider themselves on the right side of history. People fighting the good fight against homophobia, disablism, transphobia and, particularly, racism. People, possibly, like you. It is the comedian and writer David Baddiel’s contention that one type of racism has been left out of this fight.

Jews, Jews, Jews. That’s three.
Revisado: 10-31-22
I was quite surprised to learn of some examples of where David Baddiel enumerated instances where racism towards Jews was a lesser kind, and more acceptable speech, than racism towards other ethnicities or religions. He wrote a well organized and thought provoking book, and as a non-practicing half-Jew, I feel much better informed. I took a listen because Sarah Silverman mentioned Baddiel’s book whilst passionately raising similar cases where Jewish folk are rarely acted by Jewish actors in films.
I’m glad I listened to this book. I care about this issue more, now that I know more.
And the one thing he said which I really appreciate, is that sometimes people make jokes about Jews and you kind of laugh along so as not to upset anyone … we should never have to be put in this situation in the first place, and we should also stand up for ourselves. Next time, I’m going to stand up and not laugh along - because the jokes are in bad taste, and Jews do count.

Unexpectedly excellent!
Revisado: 12-18-21
I was expecting a good account of Miriam Margolyes life, but I wasn’t expecting it to be so colorful and interesting. The more I listened, the more enthralled I became. I couldn’t stop listening. It’s a great biography spoken by the author, someone that I knew little about, and now have a rich understanding of her long career and energetic existence.
If you like biographies then this is that and more. It’s a heartwarming account of so many tales and a career spanning decades, told with accents that give a window into this phenomenal lady’s talents.

Historia
The New York Times best-selling biography of an American comedy legend. After three years of sobriety, Chris Farley's life was at its creative peak until a string of professional disappointments chased him back to drugs and alcohol. He fought hard against them, but it was a fight he would lose in December 1997. Farley's fans immediately drew parallels between his death and that of his idol, John Belushi. Without looking deeper, however, many failed to see that Farley was much more than just another Hollywood drug overdose. In this officially authorized oral history, Farley's friends and family remember his work and life.

I didn’t expect this book to be so warm, funny and moving - but it was. I enjoyed the many views of Farley’s life and how he struggled and how he loved. Really good book.
