Historia
Investigative journalist Laura Chambers is back in her tiny hometown of Hillsborough, North Carolina, the one place she swore never to return. Fired from The Boston Globe, her career in shambles, she reluctantly takes a job with the local paper. The work is simple, unimportant, and worst of all, boring - at least until a missing girl turns up dead, the body impeccably clean, dressed to be the picture of innocence. Years earlier, 10-year-old Patty Finch left home and never made it back. But for the people of Hillsborough, Patty was just the beginning.

good story but delivery not so much
Revisado: 09-17-24
the storyline is good but the breathy an whispery delivery was very annoying. other than that, I enjoyed the book. better to read, I guess, than listen to.

I cannot believe I have never read or listened to any of his books before. excellent. John's narration is superb. I will be looking for more of his books which he narrates himself.

Historia
In a nameless city, two ruthless rival criminal gangs, one Albanian, the other Ukrainian, are competing for control. But they hadn’t counted on Jack Reacher arriving on their patch. Reacher is trained to notice things. He’s on a Greyhound bus, watching an elderly man sleeping in his seat, with a fat envelope of cash hanging out of his pocket. Another passenger is watching too...obviously hoping to get rich quick. As the mugger makes his move, Reacher steps in....

what happened to Jack Reacher?
Revisado: 07-07-21
I have read every Jack Reacher book and was puzzled with the character change in Jack. the narrator didn't help either.....we've come to know Jack through Dick Hill; please bring him back! so much death and holes in the story, is not what I'm used to. might be the end of the Jack Reacher road for me, sadly.

Historia
From the New York Times best-selling author of How We Got to Now and Extra Life, a look at the world-changing innovations we made while keeping ourselves entertained. This history of popular entertainment takes a long-zoom approach, contending that the pursuit of novelty and wonder is a powerful driver of world-shaping technological change. Steven Johnson argues that, throughout history, the cutting edge of innovation lies wherever people are working the hardest to keep themselves and others amused.

Hearing about how play shaped the world is itself very entertaining. So many important developments arose from our desire to play.

Narrator excellent
Revisado: 08-14-18
I first watched the movie and thought it could be a good book. Wow, the surprise came with the narrator, she does an excellent job in transporting you into this world.
I’m sad the book is finished but grateful to be able to listen to it again whenever I choose.
