Inspirational and practical, enlightened and engaging, this book is one I will return to again and again as I do my own work to heal and support the healing of our world. Thank you Michelle Cassandra for being a taproot and showing us how to grieve and grow.

Inspiring and well-researched! I bought the paper copy so I may review the exercises and re-read the studies.

I was fully engaged by this book. At times sad, often moving, so filled with wisdom. Thanks to the author and all who moved him to share this book with the world.

I loved learning more about this artist I have followed lovingly since 1993. Hearing it from her own mouth, in her own voice, made it even more special. Thank you for sharing a bit more of your life, goddess!

I am not reading in order, but each book I read by Dr. Brown deepens my understanding of shame, vulnerability, and how to show up again and again (resilience). I appreciate her authenticity and her scholarship both. There is no pretension to cut through. I hope she will add to her guidance on having the tough conversations we need around privilege and labels in future books!

I love Ms. Brown's no-nonsense style and how she makes what could be perceived as unnecessary soft skills into practical musts.

I cannot pretend I truly and fully understand what my whiteness is yet, despite all my years of trying to shed and understand it, but Dr. Dyson has given me powerful tools for reflection, many resources for learning, and sincere, helpful guidance on how to proceed. The performance grew stronger as it progressed; at first I thought they'd hired a dispassionate actor to read the first few chapters and I found it hard to believe a person could deliver such powerful words in such a level tone. Toward the end, I felt the passion as much as heard it in the words. I have read Baldwin, Coates, Ward, Morrison, Angelou, King, Malcom X, Ellison, and others, and my responsibility is becoming clearer, as is the path forward - with great thanks to Dr. Dyson
