Historia
When a fiendish fraudster has been fomenting financial falsehoods, who can find the finagler? The World’s Greatest Detective Agency, of course! Staffed by the eccentric man who calls himself Sherman Holmes and aided by his ever-composed assistant Watson, the duo will take on cases other agencies might consider helpless, hopeless, or downright preposterous. Which is how our fearless fellows find themselves investigating a Renaissance faire’s cooked books, with the finger of guilt pointing directly at their client.

Watson & Holmes are better than the originals!
Revisado: 04-25-24
This is my favorite Drew Hayes series, and is one of my go-to listens when I need a pick me up. Sherman Holmes and Joel Watson are a thousand tunes better as a duo than their original namesakes. I can't wait to see where their next adventure leads them!

Historia
Dirk never wanted to end up on Zaroff's island. He'd cheated and lied, stole and tricked, begged and crawled, all to save his own life, one payment at a time. But now the debt's come due, and Dirk missed his payments. He must muster every ounce of guile and strength at his disposal, must embrace the supernatural powers he'd struggled with for so long, must call upon allies both old and new to face the most terrifying foe a man can face . . . the consequences of his own actions. He doesn't know if he'll survive, but he won't go down without a fight.

I ❤️ Dirk Cooper!
Revisado: 07-12-23
I loved the first book, but the second book left me with the biggest crush EVER for Dirk Cooper! And I know he's a bad guy and has done horrible things, but General Zaroff has also become one of my favorite book characters ever.
The first book was certainly funny, but bits of the second book had me absolutely laughing out loud, even though in its own way, the book was MUCH darker than the first. (That probably says a lot about my personality, but I'm going to choose to ignore it.) I can't wait to see where the rest of the series goes.

Firstname Lastname is a no one with nowhere to go, with a name that is the result of an unfortunate clerical error and destined to be one of the only humans on an alien space station. That is, until she sneaks aboard a ship and joins up with a crew of repo men (they are definitely not pirates). Now she's traveling the galaxy "recovering" ships. What could go wrong?

Better than I had hoped for
Revisado: 12-25-22
The worst part about this book is that it appears to be a standalone, and I want more! I really liked the characters and the relationships they formed.

Historia
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

The last few years it has been a real struggle for me to find books that really suck me in, but oh man, did Dungeon Crawler Carl hook me from the beginning! I've recently discovered that I very much enjoy the Litrpg type books, and this one is the best I have come across. I can't wait to continue on with Carl and Princess Donut, and see where their adventure takes them.

Meet Shaman Bond, aka Eddie Drood, scion of the ancient Drood family. He is devoted to protecting humanity from the forces of darkness. Protected by the secret weapon received at birth by all members of the Drood family - a magical gold torc (i.e., a neck ring) that turns into a suit of nearly impervious golden armor - Eddie faces arcane dangers with healthy doses of wry self-confidence and sarcasm. Then the family matriarch sends him on a mission that turns out to be a deadly setup.

I LOVED this story!
Revisado: 11-01-20
already a fan of Drew Hayes, I was excited to give this book a try. Though it is unlike the other books of his I have listened to, I still loved it as much as I have loved his other work. The characters are well-developed, and you can't help but find Sherman endearing. I really hope there will be more stories coming from this Sherman and Watson. I look forward to seeing what other trouble they can get into...and out of!

Historia
Set in present-day Los Angeles, Junk explores an epic conspiracy, one at work for thousands of years that involves total takeover of the planet Earth by aliens. In the wild, souped-up vision of Les Bohem - the acclaimed, Emmy-winning writer of the Steven Spielberg miniseries, Taken - the world is at the end stage of long-range plot that involves a gigantic genetic-engineering project. The aliens who have invaded us have no planet. No spaceship is coming. Instead, a small advance force comes, breeds, and dies - thus becoming an anomaly in our DNA that can’t be explained.

Not a 5-star book, but still worth listening to
Revisado: 04-12-20
Listening to this book, primarily set in Kansas where I currently live, in the middle of a pandemic, was a little unnerving. I thought the book was very good, though not necessarily great. I wish there would of been a little more detail to the "ancient history" part of things. But I was never really bored listening to it, and felt the story kept up a good and entertaining pace.

Historia
Sick of the stress, aggravation, and multiple genocides they've had to put up with lately, accidental space hero Cal Carver and his crew set off to start a new life in a distant corner of the galaxy. Six tedious days of warp-speed and board games later, they arrive in a sector filled with new hope, new opportunities, and new adventures. Too broke to take advantage of any of these things, they are forced to accept a series of increasingly demeaning jobs just to make ends meet.
