I split from a narcissist about 4 years ago and since then have spent a lot of time and effort reassembling pieces of my life. I've read probably half a dozen or 10 books about narcissism and co-parenting and abuse recovery. Some good, some not so great..

this is a very manageable read, told from a personal perspective. There is not a cure-all or magic wand in this book and it doesn't promise one anyway, which is good since they don't exist.

I like that the author personalizes everything, but also lets the language fly every once in a while. overly clinical books like this seem a bit disingenuous.

more than anything would I take away from this book is a refill of hope that I will someday be able to handle everything my ex throws at me and that I can raise an empathetic, wonderful child even when his other parent is a narcissist.

I picked this book up on a bit of a whim, having had less than spectacular luck with books on this topic in the past.

The content is relatable, the writing style is crazy approachable, and the delivery by the narrator is superb. It takes the topic that can be very intimidating to approach and makes it easy by using plenty of tongue in cheek humor. I couldn't be happier with it.

I picked this up because it was highly rated and applicable to my current situation. unfortunately, the narration comes off as very sing-song and the casual to me, which is difficult to listen to given the depth at the topic, and there are grammatical issues and sentence structure issues that were allowed through to the audio version that combined to make it difficult for me to listen to the content.

whether you had the smoothest most amicable divorce on the history of the planet, or one like mine (the polar opposite), and this book is a must read.

it's helped me understand how to better approach my parenting relationship with my ex-spouse which would be generously described as very difficult.

good advice, solid situations, very relatable.
