The right kind of boundaries
Revisado: 01-04-25
Thanks for the focus on boundaries that don’t isolate us to just take care of ourselves but focus on healing so we can give and help others. Learning to care for myself is hard since I grew up in a church environment that down played self care at best and treated it as selfishness and even sin at worst. This book really helps one understand how to take care of one’s own inner “family” while not loosing sight of service to God and others, including our ‘outer’ family.

Historia
Tired of arguing with your spouse over the same old issues? Longing for a marriage with less conflict and more intimacy? Struggling under a load of resentment? In How We Love, relationship experts Milan and Kay Yerkovich draw on the powerful tool of attachment theory to show how your early life experiences created an "intimacy imprint" - an underlying blueprint that shapes your behavior, beliefs, and expectations of all relationships, especially your marriage.

If you’re married you should read this!!
Revisado: 01-02-25
My wife and I have been married for nearly 40 years and have struggled all those years to communicate and connect. Although we haven’t implemented this yet I can tell you that the work we have done over the last several years is confirms in me that this is just what we needed and I’m excited to see what depth we will experience together. I wish this was taught when we were first married. It would have been life changing for us and our kids.
The book is beautifully written and the audio is enjoyable to listen to. I will recommend over and over again.

Historia
If you are struggling to process loss, pain, or grief from the last few years or the last few minutes, J.S. is an experienced and deeply empathetic listener and grief catcher who has held the pain and questions of thousands of patients. While social and cultural narratives about grief are dominated by "letting go, moving on, or turning the page" in his nearly decade of service as a chaplain at a major hospital with a designated level one trauma center J.S. understands firsthand how rushing or suppressing grief only adds a suffocating layer of pain on top of the original wound.

Best book on grief you may ever read
Revisado: 06-05-24
This book will have you crying, laughing, remembering, crying again. It will heal you and open wounds you have forgotten and pour a healing salve on them. It is poetry that tells the story of life and death in a way that will help you understand both better. It will help you love others and their way of grieving and show you ways to extend compassion and presence to them.
Every pastor, of which I am, should be required to read this.
Thank you JS Park for pouring your heart and life into this book and others

Historia
In Try Softer, you'll learn how to: know and set emotional and relational boundaries; make sense of the difficult experiences you've had; identify your attachment style-and how that affects your relationships today; move through emotions rather than get stuck by them; and grow in self-compassion and talk back to your inner critic. Trying softer is sacred work. And while it won't be perfect or easy, it will be worth it. Because this is what we were made for: a living, breathing, moving, feeling, connected, beautifully incarnational life.

You have written a deeply relatable work that has already brought me healing and encouragement. May God continue to use you for His glory and the healing of many many more of His beloved (all who are made in His image).
