Historia
When Alana Shropshire’s seventy-six-year-old father, Ed, starts dating Kelly, his twenty-eight-year-old nurse, a flurry of messages arrive from Alana’s brothers, urging her to help “protect Dad” from the young interloper. Alana knows that what Teddy and Martin really want to protect is their father’s fortune, and she tells them she couldn’t care less about the May-December romance. Long estranged from her privileged family, Alana, a hardworking single mom, has more important things to worry about.

Great story… poor performance
Revisado: 07-19-23
It was hard to get into the book as the reader was not good. The story was gripping, and the writing was very good.

It couldn’t be better!
Revisado: 04-08-22
The story is complex and captivating. The readers have taken the story to an even higher level. Truly, I could not stop listening.

A surprise ending!
Revisado: 08-19-19
This book started out a bit slow for me. I liked it, but there seemed to be much of the main character’s thought patterns that turned me off. She was so weak and addicted to alcohol and medications that I lost respect for her. The ending was VERY exciting! If the book had been like this from the beginning, I would have given it a five.

Amazing!

I am humbled by my lack of understanding both of the neo nazi movement and of my ignorance of people of color. Let me say, I will be an advocate of racial awareness.

Historia
Amber wakes up in a hospital. She can't move. She can't speak. She can't open her eyes. She can hear everyone around her, but they have no idea. Amber doesn't remember what happened, but she has a suspicion her husband had something to do with it. Alternating between her paralyzed present, the week before her accident, and a series of childhood diaries from 20 years ago, this brilliant psychological thriller asks: Is something really a lie if you believe it's the truth?

This is the kind of story I love with twists and turns. However, at times it was difficult to follow. And the end threw me.

"It was a beautiful, breezy, yellow-and-green afternoon..." This is how Abby Whitshank always begins the story of how she fell in love with Red that day in July 1959. The Whitshanks are one of those families that radiate togetherness: an indefinable, enviable kind of specialness. But they are also like all families, in that the stories they tell themselves reveal only part of the picture.

Very well written with an unusual story line. One does not tire of hearing or reading about the atrocities in Europe during WWII.
