Lovecraftian madness is alive and well in MINDS HORIZON. Malikyte has done an exceptional job of renovating H.P.'s sense of doom and interdimensional horrors in a post-apocalyptic world that seems like it could happen in just a few decades. The southern California setting was made more real with familiar landscapes and settings.
The characters are believable but difficult to like due to some serious personality flaws which makes them real.
My major complaint was with the narrator or perhaps the director who chose odd times to speak in a characteristic voice when describing narrative points that seemed to me unnecessary. It was jarring at times.
That said, a truly fun horror fiction story with a little science fiction tossed in.
I understand that this is the first of a three part series. i will follow the rest of the books when they are released.

TERMINUS seems to bring a close to an outstanding series that began with Clines' 14, the book that introduced me to his writing. Lovecraftian horror mixed with fun science fiction and lots of action make this a great audio book. Characters are interesting, story pace is strong and Porter does a great job of reading the story. Recommended.

Lecesne does an incredible voice to each of his characters that surprised me, I truly believed it was an entire cast, not just one actor. His story/play is laugh out loud and misty-eyed and inspirational all at once. The story is also very insightful as it gives a voice to people who's beliefs are being challenged, and in doing so, there is not a condemnation but done with understanding and the hope of transformation...and there is.

I wish the story was longer as I wanted to spend more time with these characters and hearing Lecesne's words. This recording is a true gem and I greedy for more.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. The story clips along faster than a speeding locomotive with an inventive and clever narrative. People who love steampunk, The Wild Wild West and science fiction with a western slant will find the book a lot of FUN! I've read all of the released stories in this series and find them a pleasure to read. Listening to them on my morning commute brought a smile to my face as well as reminding me how imaginative the writer is. Don't dwell on the science (hey, it's steampunk, kids) just go along for the ride. You'll be smiling for the entire trip.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Railroad!: Volume 1?

Roger's first encounter with this improbable train and the first gunslinging action is well crafted and exciting. From there, the pace does not let up.

What does JoBe Cerny bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Cerny and Farmer do an excellent job at narrating the story, changing voices and via some nice production values, a few voice effects make the listening experience almost like watching a film. My only criticism is Cherny's voice for Ched, one of the oddest characters in the story. Without spoiling it for the listener, finding the right voice for this fellow has got to be tough. He's, shall we say, very special, and due to his particular affliction would be difficult to understand even if he was standing right in front of you. Not off putting, but I did need to listen carefully to catch all of Ched's dialog.

Who was the most memorable character of Railroad!: Volume 1 and why?

For me, it's Ched. He's the engineer of this spectacular train, has some of the best asides in the entire series and is a well thought out character. His "pickled" state tickles me to no end.

Any additional comments?
