I am over half way through and I am struggling to keep listening. Its repetitive, nothing was written to invest you in the characters, no real but a betrayal you know from the beginning is coming. They are just traveling around and although the scenes are all "action" I am bored and wondering "Are we there yet?" over and over bc its just random fight scenes but the charecters still feel like extras so I don't really care. It might pick up and become great but I need to stop here for now bc imo at least 50% of a book has to be good and I'm past that now.

This was a good read and I'm excited for the next book. Wish they had more trials in the competition and had written more interaction between contestants, that would have brought this up a star for me and gave the book more action.

Wth thinks this is a romance idk but I feel sick. This book has so many things that just make it a nope for me, I suggest you RUN! If you'd like to know why, well could not explain this well enough without summation but I doubt you'd buy this after reading it, so SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

First he wants her just for her womb, then treats like a prisoner and contemplates killing her. Admits to liking her but choses the better choice for breeding. Fine, but unsatisfied with his choice wants her on the side, she says no bc she likes his betrothed ( YAY SISTERHOOD!!!) then we find out he told all the men not to touch her in case this wife dies and he needs a backup bride later on, now she was just murdered so I guess yay they will be together(there's 1hr left) I just feel sorry for her and really think the hero has zero redeeming qualities and there hasn't been any real love story or relationship building, just him being a douchenozzle. ...it get worse, yes a whole lot worse, less than hr after his fiancee dies he kisses her and says he wants her now. She say yes but they then find ONE example 1000 years ago where a child between the 2 species died so they decide to let him sleep with 4 women to have the best chance to breed an heir/heirs and never try for kids themselves bc he can't stand the chance he might loose another child.

Review Of Trilogy

No spoiler review, I would not recommend starting this series, the writing itself is not bad but I just didn't enjoy the last book. Overall the relationships were nothing but drama and pain that promised change that never really came. There is hardly any redemption or real relationship built and the action/adventure of the story isn't fully developed for what should be the climax of the book. This is a one book that was spilt up, as a trilogy type and this would be a totaly different review if the last book had been done well but this fizzled hard for me. For the cost of three books I wish I enjoyed the books more but I feel disappointed and will not be rereading it, making me regret the money I spent.

A non spoiler review of entire trilogy. The series is actually pretty great in the plot line, charecter development and love story. The biggest drawbacks are the writing and world building, which are too immature and cheesy. My biggest cringe is the pet name used because it is often "precious" ...wish they could edit it out or swap it, I think it'd make the book more of a success in that choice alone. However I do recommend only because it really kept me guessing through the series which is hard to do in romance and the books built well on each other.

I rarely think the leads shouldn't be together, but with this book I do. He was not ready for a relationship. He had to be pushed by multiple people and even then barely put in effort. His actions showed that he didn't love her (being unsure about his feelings is not love, weird clarity moment) at least not to me. The writing and storyline were good but it was almost the end when he... well can't say manned up bc she was the one to showed up to put things right, after getting continually rejected and walls put up in their way. This as a romance was horrible, should have been a tragedy.

I'm a little confused as to all the great reviews, I am almost through book 2 (I only continued bc I had bought it before starting book 1 bc of a sale) and there is hardly any plot, just the promise of things we might learn. To me that means I have now pushed through the first two books to get either a sloppy or an incomplete ending. Even if it turns and becomes amazing, a great ending does not save a bad story. The romance is good but is stretched out along with everything else, I don't even really know that much about the characters and I connected more with their romance then with them, though it feels more like lust than love, since they don't know anything about each other. I would not reread this and to me that makes it a waste.

The premise and beginning of this book are great but it goes downhill fast. I am not sure why, she had plenty of story, thrill and romance to use from the plot concept to make this an amazing trilogy, it makes me angry that she didn't use any of it. It's a watered down version of her earlier series, The Secret Life of Amy Benson, which is an amazing trilogy that I would recomend on it's own (it's on my read once a year list) and a million times better than this.

This is a story about a woman and her brother who have grown up in hiding, keeping their family history a secret, they work and live next to eachother above their store. All that makes it sound like they'd be close, but her brother disappears with no contact and she thinks he's in trouble and is desperate to find him in the beginning of the book, she is tracking people down, making a plan and thinking about hiring a detective. Then all of a sudden she just decides he is off tresure hunting and ignoring her (and all of his clients for WEEKS?) and isn't in danger anymore and goes out of town for a weekend vacation with a guy she has barely talked to... HUH???

Spolier

She is desperate to get to an auction of a violin bc her brother got a letter stating it might contain the secret formula to make their family's violins right before he disappears. She thinks he might be tracking it down or have drawn attention from the wrong people and was tricked, possibly kidnapped. She does all she can to get into this auction, but upon finding out the violin is a fake a little before the auction, she does not even bother looking through the people who attend it to see if her brother is there. She does not even stay for the auction to see who bids or who wins but leaves early with a guy who has been hot and cold this whole book. She then goes out of town with him instead of hiring a private detective to help find her brother like she had planned.

I actually enjoyed this book despite some major flaws. I felt like with changes it could have been worth all the great ratings it has. The writing is amazing, but the romance was horrible!!! The Herione had no self respect and was clueless, not in the "I just can't catch on, even though it's right in front of me" way but in the "this should be so important to me, I am not going to ask or care about anything" way. She is the lead, she doesn't have to be Nancy Drew but at the very least maybe she should want to know why her life is falling apart? This happens not one or twice, but the ENTIRE BOOK. I almost would have preferred they didn't end up together, but they finally resolve things at the very end, with about 15 mins left to go. Up until that point the Hero treated her horribly and avoided her most of the time, all the while blaming her for something he would not confront her about. From her perspective she should have been at the very least upset when she came back to town in the beginning of the book, even more after how he treats her throughout, but acts like it's all okay and never really fights to even know why???

Not worth rereading and wouldn't pay for another book by the author. While people have metioned the movie You've Got Mail the similarity ends at the job description and dilemma, but only with fleeting moments and it was so short it's not really a comparison. The sex was akward at first, then rushed; the fluff and romance was more angst then connection. This was not the light feel good and steamy read I was expecting.

I do give harsh reviews but this is mostly for myself, I read quite a few books every week and I need to be able to check back on what I really thought about a book when I come across something else by the same Author or I considering rereading something in my library.
