Thouroughly enjoyable, this book provides a lot of insight into the sport, while being relatable to readers / listeners new to triathlon.

Storywise, it’s great to get more Kate, and I am curious to see where the story goes. Can’t wait for Kate and Julie to finally meet again.
The new female narrator does not work at all though - the voice is generally good, but the rhythm is off and totally monotonous, to the point where it sounds like a robo caller. The books deserve better. I do like the Curran voice though!

Could not get through the first chapter…. technical descriptions of weapons and armor and no story. If you‘re looking for space opera, look elsewhere. Narration too monotone for my taste.

Could not listen to the narrator past the first minute. Pity, really, as it's a great story. Derek is definitely for Julie...

Typical period drama, but with a haunting sweetness. Quite special and her best book yet.

What did you like best about this story?

While I can't quite put my finger on why, I rather liked this audiobook. The dual story of an author coming to Scotland while writing a novel about the Jacobite uprisings seems rather unspectacular and appears to be mainly two romances very loosely interconnected. However, the characters, as well as the setting in Scotland are quite vivid and held me interested, leading to a happy, and quite foreseeable ending to the plot. While the esoteric aspects of Carrie's ideas of "genetic memory" may not appeal to everyone, they are not prevalent enough to be disturbing. Altogether a very pleasant listen, in particular for Scotland fans. When I turned my calendar shortly after starting this audiobook, I turned to a photo of - Slains Castle. Well, I guess I will have to go see this place now.

Narrator is very flexible and distinctive in her performance of the various characters. Top Choice!

Typical Dark Hunter, narrator not to my taste

Total
2 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 08-16-10

The book is a typical Dark-Hunter, so while it's not high literature, its entertaining and fulfils everything you'd expect from the author. You also find out more background info about the enigmatic Acheron, which was quite to my taste!
Where I seem to disagree with most other reviewers is in the narrator: This more or less ruined the audio book for me. With Kenyon's writing being rather blatant by itself, the exaggerating and over-emphasizing style of the narrator definitely crosses the line to the ridiculous. I found myself halfway between laughing and embarassment....
I find that a female narrator suits this type of book much better and rather liked the one doing "The Dark Side of the Moon".
