Just Disturbing

This book was well written, but I would have to say my least favorite book ever. None of the characters have ANY redeeming qualities and the "m/f main characters" were despicable. Definitely not a "feel good" romance. Not even a "bad boy you hate to love" romance. Just a plot that was disturbing, with characters you just can't like interacting in macabre ways. I don't like leaving negative reviews. But reader beware. This is not your typical "dark romance". This storyline is black as pitch and left me feeling uneasy and a little bit nauseated.

imaginative original and inventive. Justin Depaoli creates a fascinating apocalyptic landscape refreshingly unique and in otherwise diluted genre.

So-so story, hard to listen to

I honestly can't tell you why I even finished this book. before the first chapter was over I was ready to turn it off. The narrator was very choppy and the readings didn't just flow. its hard to describe but it was almost painful to listen. I also didn't care for her attempted Russian accent. The story was ok. The characters weren't developed enough for me to care about them and situations happened that just didn't make sense or didn't mesh (I.e. the bathroom scene; why?? It came out if left field and had no correlation with the rest of what was going on.) Needless to say, I was disappointed. I really love a good mafia romance. Sadly, this wasn't one IMHO.

Another Great Read from Kristen Painter

It isn't often I get the same kind of anticipation for a new book as I did when Harry Potter was all the rage. Kristen Painter is the exception. Again she didn't disappoint. Sin & Jayne on another adventure with both new and old characters and a surprise appearance from an old favorite or two. As usual, BJ Harrison and Hollis McCarthy nailed the narration, as usual. Ms. Painter's worlds are richly created and one can easily visualize the landscapes and the characters she has gifted us with. Now the anticipation begins again.... I love it!

Another great Nocturnal Falls book!

As usual, Kristen Painter has gifted us with another wonderful tale of our favorite townspeople in Nocturnal Falls. I've come to expect perfection. and I'm never let down. The way the characters are fleshed out makes them knowable (is that a word?). I love the characters and the narration is tops. B J. Harrison always delivers. it wouldn't be Nocturnal Falls without him. long story short, I laughed . I cried. I loved everything about this book. Thanks for writing it!

She's gone and done it again!

What's better than seeing there's a new book release from author Kristen Painter? A new book release introducing another fabulous world. The characters are likable (or hate-able if the case may be) relatable and fun. Again using B.J. Harrison to narrate, her audio is easy and fun to listen to. I was drawn in immediately and remained engaged throughout the whole book. Looking forward to more in this series.

I really enjoyed this book. I am, however, confused by the use of the plural of God. Is this in an alternate reality? I found it very confusing and it remained that way throughout the book. Are these characters worshipers of multiple gods and if so, why is this not mentioned? It's such a stupid small part of this book but I found it confusing and annoying. It added nothing to the story so why add it . . . unless this is not earth as we know it or some other alternate reality I missed in the beginning. I know it's a work of fiction I know these cities don't exist. I did find that one aspect of the story really annoying, confusing and hard to take.

I have no idea what thisstory is about beyond 15 minutes in because I could not stand listening to this narrator. The story sounded intriguing, but the narration was impossible to listen to.
