Historia
For Meredith Gale, ending her life seems like her only choice, and that choice is the reason she’s dangling by her fingertips from a bridge high above the freezing water of the San Francisco Bay. But someone or some thing has other plans for Meredith, and as her fingers slip from the cold steel of the bridge, a disembodied voice asks her a simple question: “Candidate 13: Do you wish to be saved?” Realizing her mistake too late, Meredith screams “Yes!” and instantly finds herself transported to a mysterious island, alongside hundreds of other Candidates like her.

Great story - but a warning!
Revisado: 08-06-19
This is a great book for so many reasons: character development, unique storyline, great action sequences, and memorable locations. The voice acting was superb, and the story kept me very interested- to the point I was trying to sneak in a few minutes here and there to see what would happen next.
My only problem is that the book ended right as the bigger story was getting under way! This is the first book of a series, and the next book hasn’t been released yet. I hate that I can’t continue this story and need to choose another! My advice would be to wait until the entire series is released - unless you like extended cliffhangers.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

This book opened up an entire world to me. The characters were fantastic, the locations were dynamic, and the storyline was complex and engaging. I found myself sitting in the car long after reaching my destination.

Historia
Captain Jackson Wolfe never thought he'd see the end of the Phage War in his lifetime. The enemy was too powerful, too numerous, and utterly determined to exterminate humanity. But the appearance of a new ally in the fight has changed all of that. For the first time since the original incursion, Wolfe thinks that maybe there's a chance to stop their implacable enemy before they have the chance to wipe out any more human planets.

Revisado: 11-28-17
I wish I could go back and re-rate other books I’ve given five stars. This trilogy truly raises the bar so that it actually deserves more than just five.
Great action, believable characters - with depth, engaging dialogue and a great story all wrapped in the voice of one of the best narrators on Audible. I highly recommend!

Any additional comments?
I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. There was a bit of cheesy and very simple dialogue between- especially near the end, but it was a fun read.
My only real complaint is that the story is too obviously set up to create the long series of books (think $) and basically cut off at a completely random point. I was really really surprised to hear, "You have been listening to..." as the next words!

A little overwhelming
Revisado: 09-28-16
Very deep story, definitely. Great character development. Interesting storyline.
I often felt exhausted though as new characters and settings were continuously introduced- even 30 hours into the book. It was a bit of a chore keeping up with all of the actors in all the varied locations across the galaxy.
You need to be sitting down with a legal pad to keep enough notes to properly keep up. I'd definitely recommend it in that setting.

In an instant the world changed for Lieutenant General Michael O'Neal. His beloved Corps of the last remaining ACS destroyed beneath the guns of the Fleet, his staff shot before his eyes, arrested on the charge of war crimes, he faces a short, one-sided trial, a trip to the Fleet Penal Facility and a bullet to the back of the head while trying to "escape".

Probably the best book of the Aldenata series
Revisado: 07-13-12
Have you listened to any of Marc Vietor’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Marc is awesome. His work continues to amaze me, and this was no exception.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
When the kinetic bombardment and the surprise tank landing came out of nowhere to attack the enemy world, I actually yelled "Yeah!!!" out loud in my car.
Any additional comments?
So many story lines coming together here. So much action and so many characters focusing their attention on saving the world. This is an incredible book. Obviously, there is another book coming after this one, and I absolutely cannot wait for it.

Historia
The invaders are coming; the Posleen, a seemingly unstoppable horde who have conquered one star system after another, literally feeding on their conquests. Earth's dubious allies, the Darhel, have given the humans a number of highly-advanced technological devices, including a process for rejuvenating the aged, including trained and proven soldiers who otherwise would be too old to fight. Rejuvenation may give a critical edge, since to survive, the Earth must use every resource at hand.

- Watch on the Rhine

Good but not as compelling as the main storyline
Revisado: 07-13-12
What was one of the most memorable moments of Watch on the Rhine?
When the tanks were playing cat-and-mouse games with the Posleen landers.
What does Marc Vietor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Pronounciation of the characters' names, voice inflection and voice characterizations. Fantastic work by Marc.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Killing the old SS soldier in the tank "Anna."
Any additional comments?
I found the generalization of the storyline a little bit harder to "get in to" than the depiction of the stories in the other books. I found myself somewhat engaged with different characters but not as deep as I would have liked.
