Historia
In Drugged, Miller takes listeners on an eye-opening tour of psychotropic drugs, describing the various kinds, how they were discovered and developed, and how they have played multiple roles in virtually every culture. Drugged brims with surprises, revealing the fact that antidepressant drugs evolved from rocket fuel, highlighting the role of hallucinogens in the history of religion, and asking whether Prozac can help depressed cats. Entertaining and authoritative, Drugged is a truly fascinating book.

Interesting reading but heavy on the biochemistry

Heavy and technical
Revisado: 06-17-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Anyone with a background in biology or a lot of knowledge in neurochemistry would get far more out of this book than a layman, which I am.
Any additional comments?
The author used the term "however" so many painful times I feel my blood pressure rise when I hear it now.

I don't really like Owen
Revisado: 08-27-13
What made the experience of listening to Monster Hunter Vendetta the most enjoyable?
Larry has great ideas and makes action fun to listen to.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Just to much time is wasted with Owen being petty and argumentative. There were times I just had to stop listening, it was so painful. The arguing doesn't seem to do anything for the story, it slows down the narrative and it's just irritating to listen to.
What about Oliver Wyman’s performance did you like?
He makes the book sound like it's peopled by a multitude of different, distinct voices.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I think I laughed a couple of times.
Any additional comments?
I would have loved the book so much more without the silly school yard bull poo.

Best book of the series
Revisado: 08-27-13
Would you listen to Monster Hunter Alpha again? Why?
I might listen to this book again because of its fun action and pacing
What was one of the most memorable moments of Monster Hunter Alpha?
When Harbinger and the older Fin grind up zombie werewolves with a huge snowblower and the final show down, of course.
What does Oliver Wyman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I really enjoyed the Christopher Walken like voice for Harbinger's nemesis: Nicoli.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
How about: Werewolf Zombies, bitches
Any additional comments?
This book lacks a lot of the irritating bickering that occurs between characters in Larry's other books in this series. The abundant bickering in his other books is sometimes so mind crushingly painful to listen/read through that I have to stop listening and take a break. Why, when life and death is at stake, would anyone engage in constant pissing contests? THANKFULLY, that is absent in Alpha.

Historia
The year is 1714. Daniel Waterhouse has returned to England, where he joins forces with his friend Isaac Newton to hunt down a criminal gang attempting to blow up Natural Philosophers with "Infernal Devices," or time bombs. Unbeknownst to Daniel, however, Newton has an ulterior motive: to wrest the Solomonic Gold from the control of his arch-enemy, the master counterfeiter Jack the Coiner, a.k.a Jack Shaftoe, King of the Vagabonds.

Neal again wows with superb research
Revisado: 09-03-12
What made the experience of listening to Solomon’s Gold the most enjoyable?
Neal seems to be most interested in producing a period tale that richly honors the mores of the time. In some ways the story seems to be incidental to Neal's historical descriptions. My favorite elements of the Baroque Cycle and this book included are how well he has produced a window into the culture and society of the past.
What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
The narrator's performance is excellent in that he enables the listener to keep track of the many characters.

The Level Of Research Is Staggering!
Revisado: 08-07-12
If you could sum up The Confusion in three words, what would they be?
favorite is Jack
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Confusion?
When Jack is "King" and checks on "the potato"
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The character's distinct personalities are brought to life through the narrators. I would miss out, particularly, in hearing Jack Shaftoe's dialect.
If you could take any character from The Confusion out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Jack, of course, to see what might happen.
