Historia
One steamy night in Paris, I had a quick and dirty fling with a Scotsman who wouldn't tell me his name. Ten months later, my boss sends me to Scotland to broker a business deal with tech mogul Evan MacTaggart. There's just one problem. The seductive billionaire is the man from Paris, and I still can't resist him. The moment Keely O'Shea walked into my office, I knew I could never let her go this time. For 10 months, I've dreamed about the beautiful, sensual woman who drove me out of my mind.

I received a free copy of this in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I really enjoyed Shane East's voice, not so much Mary Ann Weathers' (mostly when she was doing male voice, reminds me too much of someone I use to know that I'd care not to remember). I'm still struggling with liking a Londoner doing a Scots accent even though I fall into one if I talk to my Scottish friends too much/long. Outside of all that, I enjoyed the story line. Even though I kinda called some of it before halfway through the book. But even with doing so it was still entertaining to hear how they figured things out. It interests me enough that I want to get the other books in the series and read them. Definitely recommend to those who like books with accents and romance and sex along with heterosexual partnerships.

Smut sells. Michael Rourke learned this the hard way. Struggling to make ends meet as a mystery writer, he sold his soul - and his pride - as he pedaled sex and lust writing under the pen name Christoph Strong. No one knew he was the one behind the steamy stories on the best sellers lists. And he planned to keep it that way. Until he met her.

I didn't care for the derision of the male author toward erotica/romance authors. We get enough of that IRL we DON'T need that in books. SERIOUSLY. That was my least favourite part of this book. That and the whole "writing romance/erotica will make my writing less valid as a mystery writer" bull. Because once you write romance and/or erotica you're now not a valid writer of anything else...or some other stupid sexist bull like that. Because we all know that romance and erotica authors are just vapid and shallow and can't write anything that makes us think.
The Monica's Musings stuff was kind of unnecessary and didn't really add much to the story. I felt like that could have been cut out and nothing would have been lost from the story. The main character was borderline alcoholic. And overall it was a decent story with a lot of fluff for filler. Some of which felt like it was there just to pad out the word count (ie: Monica's Musings). Decent story.

I received a free audio copy from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I've mentioned before, but I'm a sucker for re-tellings or different spins on fairy tales and shakespeare. And this was no exception. This is a slight re-telling and different spin on the story of Cinderella. And it was highly enjoyable. I should also mention that I own this book in kindle format as well.
I really enjoyed the narration for this book. The author (or his publisher) chose a voice that was even but not monotonous. Which is always great. Especially for long books like this one was.
I enjoyed the idea of pulling out bits of fae lore to be used in this book. It gave it that nice spin.
Overall it was an enjoyable book that I'd recommend to other lovers of fairy tales and re-imaginings of them.

I wasn't fully happy with the story (which, will happen from time to time) because a little bit of it felt a bit white saviour-y to me. I did enjoy the chosen one(s) trope in this book (though it's not a true chosen many trope). I can't say that this book isn't culturally insensitive or culturally sensitive. Nor can I say that the author is or isn't Māori.
I did enjoy the narration of this audiobook.
If you aren't worried about cultural sensitivities or accuracy (so sue me. I KNOW it's fiction but it still matters to me when using real life places and cultures) this is an enjoyable read/listen. If you are, proceed with caution and use your own best judgement.

Wow. This book. I mean seriously. THIS BOOK. I didn't want to put it down. And that's a rarer thing that happens for me when it comes to books featuring current or former military people.
And the dealing with abusive ex. There are very few ways that I would really deem appropriate. And the way this book did it? Magnificent. I literally couldn't have written it better.

Mermaids
Revisado: 05-10-16
Any additional comments?
So. Mermaids. Yes, I am shallow enough that a story having mermaids is enough to entice me to want to read the book (or listen in this case). But it was so worth it. This is a fairly engaging story.
I didn't particularly care for the bad guy in this book. Or the type of dog he had (which hits my max height requirement for calling them yappy ankle biters). But regardless of my feelings towards the dog, I still didn't like the whole near end of having to rescue the dog.
I ADORED Eddie and how well Shelly and Tillman interacted with him.
Eddie wasn't shown as being the bad guy just because his brain works differently than the 'norm'. Which is fantastic to see. Seeing positive or neutral relatable characters in media makes you feel a little less alone in the world. Or at least it does for me and most of the autistic people I know.
I also like the growth from Tillman and Eddie's mother. How she goes from useless jerk to learning and growing up and being a responsible adult.
Overall, this was a pretty good story and if you like mermaids and portrayals of mermaids as things other than just pretty half human half fish people, you'll probably enjoy this story.

This was a good prequel book. I really enjoyed it. The narrator was good. Pace was more or less perfect. And it’s just enough that I *REALLY* want to read the rest of the series. Once I get the money to buy them.
Good and short book I’d recommend.

So, the first thing I have to say is that Amy B. Martin was a fantastic choice for a narrator. The last audio book with a female narrator sounded too robotic. This one wasn't. At all. Which made it infinitely more enjoyable to me.

I didn't care much for the narrator of this. The story itself was good but the narrator sounded a little like having Siri read it. It was very electronic and robotic sounding. Which made me want to laugh during stuff that was more serious and I shouldn't have laughed at.
Despite my laughter and inability to take serious most of the serious parts. I did enjoy this. I probably would have enjoyed this just as much had I been reading this in print or e-book form(which, I do own this in ebook form for the record).

I received a free copy of this on Audible from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.
So, I generally make it not a habit to read what most books are about before I read/listen to them when they've been generously gifted by an author for a review. Apparently, I need to re-think that next time. Especially given this book and how it affected me.d
Were I able to, I would have given this a 3.5 star rating. It wasn't a full 4 star book for me but wasn't bad enough to be just a 3 star. Even with the fact that the book triggered the hell out of me. Which, was kind of my fault for not reading what it was about prior to starting it. Well reading more than just glancing over it vaguely to see if it was of any interest to me.
Besides the bad-ish kinds of stuff, this was a pretty enjoyable book to listen to. The narration was pretty good and the story itself was pretty good as well. And that ending. Oh. My. Gosh. It was *almost* everything I could have hoped for. The only thing that would have made it everything would be if she had beat the crap out of him first.
