Historia
Summer is around the corner and Sarah is making sure the store is stocked and ready for tourist season. But while the weather's heating up, Sarah gets involved in a case that is decidedly cold, when a man who was linked to a drowning death years ago is found dead himself, on the same stretch of beach. Some of Sarah's friends from the store knew the victim—and the young woman who drowned—very well and are concerned they could be dragged into the case.

A nice mystery, but I am disappointed with the way men sounded. I have liked the performance in prior novels by this author.

A very good detective novel. At first I missed the prior narrator, but I got used to him. Simon Vance is one of my favorite narrators anyway. I have all the books in this series. They are all very well written and this one is no exception. Recommend it.

Good story
Revisado: 04-23-20
I liked this book very much; however, it has become difficult for me to see how badly Rutledge is treated by his superiors. It’s hard to believe that he doesn’t get any credit for his excellent work. It just depresses me to no end. I probably will still read the next book in the series because I like Rutledge and the content of the books. It’s my hope that he will get credit for his work and the brainless bosses retire or get fired - they give a bad name to Scotland Yard.
The story is a good one, but not necessarily the best one. I figured out the guilty party quite early in the book. Not because I’m very clever, but because there weren’t many choices.
As as usual, Simon Prebble did a wonderful job. He makes the story come to life. I sure hope that he continues narrating the Rutledge novels.

Historia
She wanted sanctuary... Helena Reynolds will do anything to escape her life in London, even if that means traveling to a remote cliffside estate on the North Devon coast and marrying a complete stranger. But Greyfriar's Abbey isn't the sort of refuge she imagined. And ex-army captain Justin Thornhill - though he may be tall, dark, and devastatingly handsome - is anything but a romantic hero. He needed redemption... Justin has spent the last two decades making his fortune, settling scores, and suffering a prolonged period of torture in an Indian prison.

Very good writing. The narrator does a great job. Very likable characters. Very clean - no questionable language and behavior appropriate for the historical time. Ms. Matthews is becoming one of my favorite writers.

Julian Langham was poised on the brink of a dazzling career when the lawyers lured him into making a catastrophic mistake. Now, instead of the concert platform, he has a title he doesn’t want, an estate verging on bankruptcy...and bewildering responsibilities for which he is totally unfitted. And yet the wreckage of Julian’s life is not a completely ill wind. For Tom, Rob, and Ellie it brings something that is almost a miracle...if they dare believe in it.

Absolutely wonderful
Revisado: 03-26-19
Every book in the series is wonderful. I love Ms Riley’s writing-so romantic and sexy, but without explicit sex scenes. If this book is the last in the series, I’m sad. There is a lot yet to write and I need my Rockliffe fix at least once a year.
Alex Wyndham gets better with every new novel. Please continue this series.

What a great book!
Revisado: 02-02-19
I finally decided to listen to this book after having it in my library for several years. The author comes across as knowledgeable of that period and her writing is so good that made a lasting impression on me. I have read many World War II books and this one is one of the best. It was hard to read about all the suffering not only of Jews, but also of anyone who dared to disagree with Hitler. The love story is sweet and tender - the ending made it worth spending 16+ hours listening.
The narrator did a wonderful job with voices and letting emotions come across in a very believable way. Really worth a credit.

Historia
Georgie, or Lady Georgiana Rannoch, is busy planning her upcoming nuptials to Darcy O'Mara. Unfortunately, what has started as a simple wedding has become quite a royal headache and grand affair, thanks to a guest list that includes the queen and the appointment of princesses as Georgie's bridesmaids. “If only Darcy and I had eloped!” she thinks, as she attempts to organize her wedding and find a place for her and her husband-to-be to live. Just as she despairs of ever finding a home, her godfather offers his fully staffed country estate. But something sinister is afoot....

Quite good
Revisado: 01-29-19
Overall this is a good story. Darcy is absent from most of the book and i feel that I would have enjoyed it much better if he had been included more.
Regarding the narrator, I believe she did a good job; however, she had a big miss while portraying Darcy. He sounded like a woman and that was disappointing for me. I don’t know if this series will continue, but if there is a new installment, I hope the narrator practices so that Darcy’s voice is more masculine.
For me, it was worth a credit.

Historia
We fell in love on a beach, got married in paradise, and rode off into the sunset. It should have been perfect, but saying "I do" doesn't guarantee a happily ever after. Two years later, I barely recognize either of us behind the walls we've built. It's time to bring it full circle. Back to a tropical paradise. Back to find out if we can still make this work. I'm not willing to give her up, but to save us, I have to risk everything.

Not a romance
Revisado: 10-18-18
Reading the description of this book I had the idea of a nice romantic story of a couple trying to make it in their marriage. Nothing further from the truth. There is no romance! The characters are not likable and they seem to be in lust only. The whole book is peppered with foul language, expletives and vulgarity (I’m in contact with people of all ages and walks of life, and nobody speaks like that). I’m so disappointed that I wasted my time so badly.
I bought this book without researching the author and, of course, I regret it. I learned a lesson and this author goes in my “do not buy list.”

Historia
When the dashing Jack Carstares is unfairly accused of cheating at cards, he leaves the country in disgrace. Returning some years later disguised as a highwayman, his reappearance heralds a dramatic chain of events that includes a Duke, a damsel, a duel, and not one, but two kidnappings. Written when she was just 17, The Black Moth was Heyer’s first novel, but it bears many of the hallmarks of her later romances, being vivid, witty, and peppered with historical insight.

I've had this book in my library for a very long time. I was afraid It wouldn't meet the standards of my favorite Heyer books - was I pleasantly surprised! This is a wonderful book with romance, abductions, a very likable villain and wonderful characters. As usual the dialogue is fast paced and interesting.
I liked the narration well. The narrator made me immerse in the story. I used the WS4V feature which helped me understand the old fashioned language better.
