I truly disliked the beginning of this book, and stuck it out because of the author. I am very glad I did.

What was Mr. Darcy’s life like before he met Elizabeth Bennet? Before he stepped onto the Pride and Prejudice stage at the Meryton assembly? More importantly, where is he and what is he doing all the time he’s absent from the page thereafter? And what is his relationship to a woman named Amelia? With Fitzwilliam Darcy in His Own Words, the iconic literary hero finally tells his own story, from the traumas of his early life to the consummation of his love for Elizabeth and everything in between.

A story of prejudice and acceptance, funny lists and silly words, this new book has all the hallmarks of David’s previous best sellers. Our hero Ben is bored beyond belief after he is made to stay at his grandma’s house. She’s the boringest grandma ever: all she wants to do is to play Scrabble and eat cabbage soup. But there are two things Ben doesn’t know about his grandma.

Dragged out to the point of not being entertaining!
Revisado: 07-11-21
Why was this story just a three star all around for me: too long, not interesting enough, mediocre narration. When I heard book #3 in the series, Devil in Winter, I knew I was listening to Lisa Kleypas, and Mary Jane Wells perfection! To follow that listen with Scandal in Spring was very disappointing. In my opinion, the plot only became interesting until the very end. I felt I had to hear the worst New York and Boston accents ever just for a little excitement almost 7 hours into the book! I just could not wait to be done with it! And it is a shame because there was effort put into this novel and its production; however, I was not entertained. Hopefully, you will have a different experience.

Loretta Chase is my favorite; this novel is far fro it.
Revisado: 05-31-21
I found the hero and the heroine NOT likable. What kind of mother has her 12 year old girl run away, and she takes up a new lover. She is more concerned about her lover’s reputation, and his well being than her daughter’s whereabouts and safety! My dog ran away once, and I was a hysterical mess combing the streets until I found her! And, this woman is having hot and heavy sex with a man while daughter is missing!!! I do not think Ms. Chase is a mother, or put much thought into this plot. Having stated this, I did like the kids, and will listen to their story in book 5. The kids IMO are the only redeeming part of this flat and stale tale.

Revisado: 05-25-21
I loved the tv series, and purchased the audio thinking it was going to be such a great experience! I WAS WRONG! The tv show does follow the book; unlike the tv show, the story is so boring! And, the boredom goes on for hours! Just watch the show; this is one of the few books that the film version is so much better!

I love this series! I cannot get enough of Sir Phillip, the funniest regency hero ever! Please, read the first book in the series to really appreciate this clean romantic regency novel. The historical accuracy is wonderful. One truly feels as if one is living in London in the early 1800’s! If this is your time period, you cannot do better. Enjoy!

Is Number 67 Clarges Steet the unluckiest house in Mayfair? Every season the beau mondes of the Regency would hire a house in the heart of London’s fashionable West End at disproportionately high rent for often inferior accommodation and yet Number 67 Clarges Street, a town house complete with staff, remains vacant from year to year. Could it be that it is associated with ill luck and even death? Something must be done so that the servants of this house don’t lose their livelihood.

BEAUTIFULLY ROMANTIC!
Revisado: 04-21-21
If you enjoy a good old fashion love story, you will fall in love with this novel. I did not give it an overall 5 star rating because I CRAVE adventure. This novel does NOT have any of that. It is a wonderfully written story of two very OPPOSITE people falling in love and forming a family and a home. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. The narration is excellent; the French accent of Justine Erye is perfection! Do NOT hesitate to spend your credit on this listen.

AN ABSOLUTE PLEASURE AND DELIGHT!!!!
Revisado: 04-19-21
I loved, loved this novel!!! By far my favorite novel in the Pennyroyal Green series by Julie Anne Long. If you have not read the series. I suggest you read them in order; you can find book 1-5 in YT. It Happened One Midnight is thus far my absolute favorite 😍 Jonathan and Tommy (Tomasina) are the coolest hero and heroine duet!!! You will love them, and their story! Additionally, there are many answers to the ongoing saga of the Redmond family, and much fun at Pennyroyal Green. This is a very happy and light book. The narration is perfect; although, I CANNOT understand why Tommy has a Spanish accent when she was born and raised in jolly England. It does not make any sense to me. Nonetheless, as a Spanish girl, I was happy to hear her. I hope that you enjoy It Happened One Midnight as much as I have; it is one that I will re-listen to often
