The Holy Bible, New Living Translation, is an authoritative Bible translation, rendered faithfully into today’s English from the ancient texts by 90 leading Bible scholars. The NLT’s living language breathes life into even the most difficult-to-understand Bible passages—but even more powerful are stories of how people’s lives are changing as the words speak directly to their hearts.

Does the Bible really teach that you're supposed to yield your rights? What's the right way to look at the issue of rights? Have you ever been accused of being bitter? Maybe you thought you really weren't, but how can you tell? Is that "root of bitterness" truly as insidious in your heart as some have suggested? How can you use other Scriptures to help you recognize it?

Body shaming. Marriage shaming. Single shaming. Mom shaming. Lifestyle shaming. Religious shaming. It seems no matter which direction we turn, women can’t shake the shame that is constantly piled on top of us. Author and podcaster Jasmine L. Holmes knows this struggle all too well. Though shame has been a constant companion (and even a snare) throughout her life, God has broken the chains of shame in Jasmine’s life through the power of the gospel.

Forty-one-year-old Jane lives in the country, is married to a vicar, has a daughter she adores, and lives a very proper life in a very proper English parish. Jane has the perfect husband in mind for her former pupil: a widower named Fabian Driver.

Charming Story Ruined by Terrible Narration
Revisado: 03-27-24
I adore Barbara Pym's writing, but simply could not finish this audiobook because the narration was dreadful. Mary Sarah's fake English accent sounded so silly and affected that one could almost believe it was intended as a spoof. I was further dismayed to realize that Audible offers several more Pym works with the same awful narration.
Audible, please re-record these novels with a worthy narrator, perhaps Jayne Entwistle, who did a fine job with Excellent Women, or the incomparable Juliet Stevenson. Barbara Pym's many devoted fans will then line up to purchase them!

Clever and Intriguing Mystery

Cross a Jane Austen romance with a Dorothy L. Sayers murder mystery and you have this clever and intriguing story set on an island in the Thames River. Ms. Klassen’s best work to date is made even more delightful by James Langton‘s first rate narration!

Historia
American evangelical Christianity has lost its way. While the witness of the church before a watching world is diminished beyond recognition, congregations are torn apart over Donald Trump, Christian nationalism, racial injustice, sexual predation, disgraced leaders, and covered-up scandals. Left behind are millions of believers who counted on the church to be a place of belonging and hope. As greater and greater numbers of younger Americans bleed out from the church, even the most rooted evangelicals are wondering, “Can American Christianity survive?”

A Prophetic Call to Renewal
Revisado: 07-26-23
Losing Our Religion is a Scripture-based appeal to the American church to turn from tribalism to truth, from culture wars to conversion and from nostalgia to genuine revival. Dr. Moore challenges us to put our hope in Christ rather than political power, embrace our identity as exiles and live out our faith in a way that showcases the goodness and beauty of the Gospel. Candid, witty and authentic, this book is a prophetic call for our times!

For over half a century, pro-life advocates have fought to protect the sanctity of human life. Now that the decision the pro-life community has been waiting and praying for has finally become a reality, a question remains: Now what? How do we continue to stand for life for everyone who bears the image of God―from womb to tomb?

Pro-Life & Pro-Justice
Revisado: 07-06-23
“Our higher, more complete calling must be to address the factors that drive women to choose abortion by removing the obstacles that stand in the way of choosing life.”
Benjamin Watson clearly demonstrates the vital link between defending the sanctity of life and pursuing racial and economic justice. He gives practical suggestions for how to build a culture where mothers are supported and children are valued, both inside and outside of the womb. Excellent writing and excellent narration!

Journey Toward Freedom
Revisado: 02-03-23
It was an honest and vulnerable book, though anyone hoping for a tell-all will be disappointed. She says only positive things about her parents, but is very critical of Bill Gothard and IBLP, the group her family has been part of all these years.
She was a very compliant and conscientious child, who struggled with religious anxiety. She has moved from living under law to living under grace, from a rules-centered faith to a Jesus-centered faith and that has brought her great joy!
I would recommend this book, along with the Untwisting the Scripture series by Rebecca Davis, to those seeking to move from legalistic fundamentalism toward freedom in Christ.

Compassionate & Informative
Revisado: 01-09-22
Maria Konnikova’s investigation is deeply personal and compassionate and I hope it will help reduce the stigma attached to migraine. I suffered with migraine for more than 20 years before achieving near total remission with Cefaly and Aimovig so I am glad to see more attention given to this debilitating condition.
I was disappointed that Dr. Konnikova promoted the myth of the placebo effect, but overall I found the program very informative. If listeners have one take-away, I hope it will be that migraine is a brain disorder, NOT a personality type.
