Talibanic enforcers burning books? The Supreme Court deciding that sharia law doesn't violate the "separation of church and state"? The Hollywood Left embracing polygamy? If you think these things can't happen, you haven't been paying attention, as the hilarious and provocative columnist Mark Steyn shows to devastating effect in this, his first book on American and global politics.

Prophetic!
Revisado: 10-30-18
Loved it! As I listened to it in 2018, so many of the trends Steyn identified 13 or so years earlier (2005 or so) were being played out. Just recently (Friday October 26, 2018 or so) the European Court of Human Rights ruled it was unlawful to criticize Islam!
I will be listening to Steyn's book again to refresh my memory of the other trends he identified.

Historia
In the fall of 2014, outspoken pundit, author, and filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza found himself hauled into federal court for improperly donating money to a friend who was running for the Senate. D'Souza pleaded guilty, apologized for his offense, and was sentenced to eight months in a state-run confinement center near his home in San Diego. In the facility, he lived among hardened criminals - drug dealers, thieves, gangbangers, rapists, and murderers.

Unmasking the con-exposing the lie and liars in Progressive America
Revisado: 05-15-17
In his book "Stealing America" Dinesh D'Souza exposes the lies that progressives tell to further their ultimate goal: the theft of America. In a clear and concise fashion D'Souza explains the guiding philosophy behind progressives' actions. In particular, the actions of two of the most infamous and influential progressives, namely Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are chronicled. If Republicans, especially conservative Republicans, were aware of the philosophy and common tactics employed by progressives, progressive's plans would be thwarted at their earliest stages. Knowing or at the very least understanding progressive motives makes one less likely to fall for the conman's pitch and supports efforts to replace progressive mainstays such as Obama Care. Ultimately turning the tide of progressive indoctrination of young people at colleges and universities begins with an education of just what they have been taught (progressive ideology) and how in the long run that ideology threatens their very freedom.

Historia
In the late summer of a long-ago year, Alton Turner Blackwood brutally murdered four families. His savage spree ended only when he himself was killed by the last survivor of the last family, a fourteen-year-old boy. Half a continent away and two decades later, someone is murdering families again, re-creating in detail Blackwood’s crimes.

A story from a mind as imaginative as the night is dark
Revisado: 05-16-16
Koontz has always been a master with telling a tale with metaphors. From the twisted mind of the killer to the tortured soul of the cop that pursues him across space and time we see the characters come to life. Almost as if there was some rule book, a theory of paranormal criminal behavior guides the cop and the reader. Not only does Koontz's writing tell the tale, but Weber's performance is first rate. He puts feelings and emotion so well that you know the character as his/her words are spoken. Indeed, this is a tale to be treasured.

Historia
An unprecedented high-level master narrative of America's intelligence wars from the only person ever to helm both the CIA and NSA, at a time of heinous new threats and wrenching change. For General Michael Hayden, playing to the edge means playing so close to the line that you get chalk dust on your cleats. Otherwise, by playing back, you may protect yourself, but you will be less successful in protecting America.

Excellent Historical account of surveillance with inside perspective
Revisado: 03-20-16
Excellent historical account of surveillance with inside perspective.
It's not very often that one gets the opportunity to get the historical account of surveillance from someone that helped create the infrastructure as well as administered it. You get the view from someone that "was there". It is helpful to be given the view from one that knew the true story and not someone outside the organizations conducting the surveillance.

A fun adventure
Revisado: 07-23-15
If you like action movies or dramas with historical underpinnings, you'll enjoy "The Venetian Betrayal". Steve Berry does an excellent job weaving the ancient history of Alexander the Great with the territorial aspirations of Irina Zovastina. Her Stalinesque ruthlessness and planned conquest via biological warfare seems believable. Her shallow disregard for the lives of others reminded me of Saddam Hussein. As always Cotton Malone is there to save the day in his take no prisoners fashion! An enjoyable listen!

Let this be your final battlefield...
Revisado: 04-05-15
Spoiler alert. Reminiscent of that Star Trek Original Series episode entitled "Let this be your final battlefield" we see that the plague and conflict between Kate Warren and Dorian Sloan is a continuation of a dispute between two Atlanteans. Sloan believes in evolution by a near extinction level plague and Warren who thinks the human race can evolve well enough without the widespread death and destruction. Riddle introduces some fascinating technologies that give the Alanteans God like powers. Powers that guide human evolution over thousands of years, resurrect people from the dead and implant memories in people that actively guide them long after the original host body has deceased. Just as in Star Trek the world is decimated and brought to the brink of total ruin and a near extinction of the human race. Dorian uses deceit and guile to further his ambitions. True to form Kate is compassionate to a fault and David does his level best to turn the tide against all odds. Riddle has delivered another tome on the epic journey of human development.
