Historia
Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

I usually like YA fiction but this was awful (mind you I didn't finish it). The setting was interesting but the characters and dialogue were very amateur.

Umm... I wanted to love this.
Revisado: 07-10-20
The story really ebbed and flowed. The ending felt abrupt and like a copout, it disnt really follow on the odd love story and character arc of Snow. I love the authors writing style but this was disappointing.

More an experiment than a novel
Revisado: 02-12-19
Spends most of the book explaining engineering of the space ships and the physics and Astronomy related to the plot... and very little time developing characters and spending time on plot trajectory.

Not my favourite Gaiman book
Revisado: 02-12-18
I was really hopeful for this one as I've read and loved many Neil Gaiman books. however it's very long-winded, fantastical and doesn't have a great story arc. I love how Gaiman pulls from mythology in many of his works though and the anthropomorphized nature of these myths and gods is really interesting.

Unique children's story... Loved it!

Unique and spellbinding
Revisado: 04-06-16
Each chapter is a different story in itself, a different noteworthy chapter in the life of the main character, and they are all amazing! It was such a unique and interesting sci-fi type story. There overarching connecting plot that linked the start of the tale to the climax was not as good as each of the individual mini-stories within. I really enjoyed this though! I'm looking at other Neil Gaiman books now and can't wait to read them.

Fantastic history of autism
Revisado: 03-12-16
This was a fantastic, well researched and objective look at the history of autism , Asperger's , and other pervasive developmental delays. There was no slant for or against certain treatments , approaches or studies , just facts that were well laid out, flowed well and were interesting. The narrator was good, no complaints.
I really recommend this for anyone whose life has been touched by autism, either professionally or personally. It was enlightening and worth the 22 hour listen.

Short story that needs to be longer
Revisado: 12-22-15
What a great short story... great premise with a lot of promise. It's very imaginative and I was really excited as it started to take off. But just as it got going it ended! I guess that speaks to the mundane eternity and frustration portrayed in the book but I would have really liked to have seen it get fleshed out.

Not a bad listen
Revisado: 11-26-15
The story took a while to get going and I had to push myself to keep listening. Similarly the ending was hard to get through - I made it so far! Gotta keep going!
It was a good story, just really wordy and lengthy descriptions of relatively mundane life. I bought the sequel at the same time but not sure I'm up to that one to be honest. Wouldn't recommend.
