Suspenseful and creative sci fi
Revisado: 12-21-24
I really enjoyed this book! It is best to go into the story with as little info as possible to enjoy the discovery of the world and the twists of the plot.

A wonderful series
Revisado: 05-03-24
All the books are great! I would definitely recommend the series to people who enjoy anime and/or fantasy adventure battle books. This does not feel stereotypical. I don't read much fantasy anymore because in some ways it all seems like the same story. This series is not like that. It's not the usual predictable version of the hero's journey. The characters are a strong element of the writing. very good! The voice actor who reads the series does a wonderful job of all the different voices. I truly enjoyed this!

Be patient, this is worth it!
Revisado: 12-07-23
When I started book number one I didn't know if I could remember all the names. I also felt like the pacing was slow because there was a lot of background to established. I am so glad that I stayed with it because the story that unfolds is worth the time. the author is very good at reminding you of the identities of characters that you haven't visited in a few chapters. It's a sweeping epic that is largely the tale of three kingdoms, with elements of magic lending a mysterious touch, but something about the writing feels more literary. I think I could compare it to historical fiction from a world just one step toward magic from ours. There is grandeur in the scale what it is trying to convey. As an artist I enjoyed very much his description of what it is like to work on mosaic. I feel a creative kinship with one of the main characters, Crispin, who ties the heart of the story together. We follow him loosely, switching characters, but it is he who interweaves through many intrigues and dramatic situations. This book was wonderful!

Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

I love this series!!!
Revisado: 03-01-23
Bobiverse is simply one of the best sci fi series out there. It's on my short list of all time favorites! The science feels plausible but the characters are super well-written too. I always love when authors explore human nature in a thoughtful way.

Historia
Across two parallel narratives, Murakami draws listeners into a mind-bending universe in which Lauren Bacall, Bob Dylan, a split-brained data processor, a deranged scientist, his shockingly undemure granddaughter, and various thugs, librarians, and subterranean monsters collide to dazzling effect. What emerges is a novel that is at once hilariously funny and a deeply serious meditation on the nature and uses of the mind.

Expect a dream logic
Revisado: 01-11-23
I didn't go in to this with many expectations. I simply thought it would be sci-fi. It is sort of sci fi but it really feels a little more like fantasy, don't expect future tech to be explained, its all sort of magical and irrational, if you know that, then ypu understanda major part of this book's personality. The point of view is very male of the 1980s and thus, the women are exceedingly flat, mostly serving the main character. I feel like this element comes partly from the time in which it was written. The women are only a means to an end, though he at least states that they are intelligent, it is rarely demonstrated in actions. I like the overall premise which managed to be a novel surprise. The ending is very satisfying. The threads take a long time to come together, they feel random and slow but they do build a cohesive interesting narrative in the end.

Very short for an Audible book
Revisado: 12-07-22
I would have loved to see this bundled with the other stories in the collection. The story was really unusual and I liked it a lot, but it was so short I just wanted to read the others too withoutpainstakinglyhunting each one up individuallyand buying them seperately. I personally loved the voice they chose for this performance. She's great! I just wanted a longer audio book. That's my only bone to pick.

Historia
Writer and former model Paulina Porizkova pens a series of intimate, introspective, and enlightening essays about the complexities of womanhood at every age, pulling back the glossy magazine cover and writing from the heart. This is a wise and compelling exploration of heartbreak, grief, beauty, aging, relationships, re-invention and finding your purpose. In these essays, Porizkova bares her soul and shares the lessons she’s learned—often the hard way. After a lifetime of being looked at, she is ready to be heard.

Thought provoking memoir, essay style
Revisado: 11-22-22
I have always liked the way that Paulina analyzes life. She is very intelligent and sensitive. Her recent years have been very complicated and it was interesting to hear her work her way through the events, sharing with candid honesty, the lessons she has learned. She definitely wants to help other people. I came away with the message that she wrote this book because she wanted to read something like it when she was facing the shattered remnants of her prior lifestyle. It feels like sitting down to coffee with a close girlfriend. I highly recommend it especially for women of a certain age, though I think it has wide appeal for anyone who likes memoirs. Even though this is not written chronologically which usually isn't my personal preference, I ended up really enjoying this and you do get a sense of the chronology of her life. It doesn't hindar my ability to understand her timeline even though she decided to organized by topic. For anyone who is looking for a specific theme this particular organization will be a welcome decision.

Historia
At first, it looks like a disease. An epidemic that spreads through no known means, driving its victims mad with memories of a life they never lived. But the force that’s sweeping the world is no pathogen. It’s just the first shock wave, unleashed by a stunning discovery - and what’s in jeopardy is not our minds but the very fabric of time itself. In New York City, Detective Barry Sutton is closing in on the truth - and in a remote laboratory, neuroscientist Helena Smith is unaware that she alone holds the key to this mystery...and the tools for fighting back.

Solid Sci fi fun
Revisado: 11-22-21
I recommend this for readers who like interesting sci-fi that doesn't feel the most grounded in reality - this isn't like "The Martian" where every gram of science has been crowd-sourced and it could actually maybe happen in a couple of decades. It's more of a thought experiment and has a dreamy, interesting, theoretical feel. A good story, well-written, pondering what it is to be human and what if we could have a certain technological ability - what might we learn?
