Thank you for being vulnerable. Your authenticity has opened up a deeper understanding about myself that I didn't realize existed.

Moore did a wonderful job putting throwing the reader into the life of the women accused in the Salem witch trials and culturally what life was like at the time.

Heather Moore did a wonderful job depicting the everyday life and struggles of early female aviators. I learned so much from this book and found a deeper appreciation for the women flyers who paved the way before us.

The Screwtape Letters, but not satirical

As if Uncle Screwtape wrote it himself. The author's philosophy is founded on disciplined and artful manipulation. Greene does not understand the related definitions of leadership and social influence, i.e. influencing others to accomplish a common goal, without guile or fear of the transparency of your motives. If you follow these laws of power, you will gain a powerful facade and a life-long fear that others might be reading your thoughts.

The author definitely adheres to Machiavelli and Nietzsche's cohort. But, a major problem with it is that Machiavelli was offering the wrong question when he asked if it is better to be feared than loved. The question should have been, is it better to enable others' agency or restrict others from freely exercising it. Both the selfishly and selflessly powerful can be loved and feared, but the long term question is whether it is better to gain/exercise power to enable or restrict basic human powers of agency.

Better to read: Influencer and Change Anything by Patterson, et al., Getting More by Stuart Diamond, Influence: the Psychology of Persuasion by Cialdini, and Plato's Republic
