This valuable box or combo contains six titles that are each targeted towards a different area of the world. Most are in Europe, and a couple of them beyond that continent. You will listen about myths, deities, people being killed, people betraying each other, animals that can talk, supernatural powers that are exerted, and much, much more. Each of these audiobooks is not only filled with the stories from those times, but a number of background details of that particular society as well.

terrible content and reader can't pronounce words correctly

Borning and not what was advertised in the description. It's more of an anthropological study than a compilation of folklore. Total waste of a ceedit.

In The End Is Always Near, Dan Carlin looks at questions and historical events that force us to consider what sounds like fantasy; that we might suffer the same fate that all previous eras did. Will our world ever become a ruin for future archaeologists to dig up and explore? The questions themselves are both philosophical and like something out of The Twilight Zone.

This book was totally meandering and pointless. The weird cadence trying to sound dramatic makes it unlistenable. Just get materials about these specific events.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Bland, trite, YA fiction with all the worst flaws.
Revisado: 09-09-23
A bunch of reviews complained about the narrator being sick. I didn't notice that over the sound of my own exasperated noises as this book progressed. The worst weakness was the bland, uninteresting characters. From the beginning, this book has the "jerk antagonist" problem that has spread like a plague throughout fantasy ever since Harry Poter. Writers of fantasy, and particularly YA fiction, appear convinced that they need one (usually more) characters that range from simply insufferable jerks to murderous sociopaths that are not just tolerated but in positions of power, when they would have been cast out of any reasonable society at best or executed for the sake of public safety at worst. The whole premise of this book is founded on this terrible writing trope. From page one, the author makes a big deal about dragon riding being voluntary. But the main character has to go because her sociopath of a mother is some big shot general and is allowed to make the main character sign up. Never mind the MILITARY rules regarding said conscription. The whole military just shrugs and says, "jerk genreal says the MC is going so i guess that is how its going to be." WHY? Early on, the MC is confronted by another jerk who would simply not be tolerated in any rational society due to his pointless, inexplicable, murderous personality. She is confronted by more jerks in rapid succession from there. I nearly tapped out after she was almost murdered three times in one and one half days. The nice characters are just as cookie cutter as the jerk characters, but in the other direction. Fast friends who like the MC for simple kidness or for no reason other than the story requiring it.
Whether good guys, or not, all of the characters act far younger than their actual ages. Reading about some of their behavior, I would assume they were 14 to 16, not in their 20s. I, for one, would not be comfortable giving such petty idiots a water pistol, let alone the world equivalent of an Abrams tank. I can only assume the author wanted the story to be YA but didn't feel comfortable writing the sex scenes with the characters not having reached the U.S. age of majority. So you get the feel of a high school drama with actors in their 30s playing the roles of 18 year olds.
And as bad as the characters are, the story itself is only slightly better. Not bad, just soooo trite. It's not a good sign when you can see where the story is going to go as you are reading the introductory chapters.
This book was either hyped by paid shills or reviewed by 12 year olds that have never read any other fantasy in their lives. I was promised the next great fantasy series and was given boring, bland, overdone YA fiction with explicit sexual scenes. Very disappointing.

An OK story, but the author needs to learn pacing.
Revisado: 08-20-23
I enjoyed the story alright. But the author's sense of pacing needs a lot of work. The series has a slow (at times too slow) pace through 9/10ths of the books. Then, the writing takes on a totally different character and not in a good way. It's clear that the author realized as she was writing the final volume "oh no, I haven't even begun to resolve any of the major plot issues and neglected a lot of world building/explanation and my series is nearly complete." The plot then proceeds at a breakneck pace, swinging wildly and bafflingly from momentous event to momentous event. Major plot issues are resolved in a formulaic, expositional, deus ex machina like style. No build-up, no allowing the reader to learn about the world or story events along with the characters. The reader is exposed to the following formula over and over again: 1) main chacter(s) arrive at location, 2) underdeveloped or new side chacter is introduced, 3) said character explains major world building information or main chacter backstory, 4) main chacters marvel at the literally worldview shattering revelation for two minutes, 5) on to the next said set piece. This continues until the end of the series. As a reader, it would have been nicer to learn all of this throughout the story along with the chacters and see how they reacted. The slower, more detailed style of the rest of the series makes this all the more jarring and out of place. It goes from novel to a power point presentation with extra steps. Worth your time when you want something light, but be prepared for a lackluster final act.

Jon and his allies are far from home. An unstoppable force is coming, and a play for the crown has left their army broken. A choice must be made to side with the lesser of two evils. Will the ends justify the means? How much will have to be sacrificed to ensure some semblance of a future for Lycast? One thing is for certain. Jon and his allies must use everything available to them to get through this, and even then it might not be enough. To take on everyone who opposes their king means mysteries must be uncovered. It means Jon’s people must regain the strength they lost.

Spoiler Warning!!!!!!!
I loved this series and still do. But the ending would have happened whether John was there or not. The end of the villain happened while John was trying to figure out what was happening. The means of the villain's demise had to be explained to him with vague exposition after the fact. Finding out that the conclusion would have happened regardless of the events of five boik is not very satisfying. That being said, I enjoyed all of the books, including this one. I'll listen to more from this author, but probably through Libby so I don't feel cheated.

Interesting in a few parts but largely filler
Revisado: 01-25-23
This book had some interesting parts but appeared to be mostly filler. IMHO it could have been half as long. Spires and shrines are fun, but if they aren't connected to plot in a definitive way they are forgettable. And a spure climb with a whope lot of as of yet unimportant events is the vast majority of the book. I had to relisten to this book before starting book 4 because I had no recollection of what happened in it. I hope that the authors editors start requiring a bit more discipline and tight writing so that this story doesn't suffer the fate death by bloat that got to GoT or the Dresden Files. Of course the author could have some plan not yet revealed that makes my review wrong, but I'd be surprised.

This is the end of a different story.
Revisado: 12-17-22
I have read a lot of reviews after finishing this book. So many say "I wish I stopped with book 4 and made up my own ending." I couldn't agree more.
I can't think of a final book of a series that is more disconnected from the rest of the series than this one. To start, the antagonist and stakes are in no way set up or supported by the earlier story. There is no real foreshadowing or evidence for how the final enemy turns out.
But the worst part of this book is that every chacter is forced to abandon all of their charter growth from the entire series so that the author can get the tragic ending they wanted. The series consistently showed the chacters making new mistakes in an attempt to not make the same moral compromises or errors in judgment as their mentors. But to have the parallelism that the author wants, the main characters have to completely abandon all of that and be totally different people. The author clearly had an end in mind, wrote the story, and then realized that they had to make a u-turn to get where they wanted. So, he just metaphorically bludgeoned all of the major characters in the head and gave them new personalities. Sir. if I wanted to read a new series, I would have. I wanted an end to the series that you were currently writing.
Finally, there are so many plot points that are just dropped. No explanation, no attempt to acknowledge that the reader will just never know. The possibility of a future series doesn't fix that problem. As I said above, I'm currently invested in this series, not some inchoate future one.
What a shameful, disrespectful middle finger of a series ending volume. I was all ready to start other series by this author. I don't trust them enough to bother now.

Kanderon Crux has fallen. The traitors who brought the powerful sphinx down have fled with plagues and other magical weapons stolen from Skyhold's Vault, intending to use them against the Havath Dominion, no matter the cost to the rest of the Ithonian continent. Havath teeters on the edge of collapse after their failed invasion of Skyhold, and the nations and monsters of Ithos circle like vultures. The Dominion has no interest in going down without a fight, however, and there are few depths they're unwilling to sink to for survival.

Half of a book
Revisado: 10-07-22
I enjoy this series a great deal. I like the characters and the world - particularly the magic system. However, this is the first of the series fhat I found to be disappointing. This book can be summaried in three statements 1. Read my world building, 2. Read my magic system building, 3. And then this happened. I didn't get the sense that there was any real story being developed; just a series of vignettes that were surrounded by Tolkien levels of descriptions about other worlds. I suspect that all the payoff is in the next (last?) book of the series. However, if that's the case, then this should have been labeled part one, or published as a single book length notwithstanding.
