I loved it!
Revisado: 05-22-23
Entertaining, fast paced and unpredictable.
That’s all I require in an audio book and this surpassed my meager needs like a rocket.
The narrator took the plot up a couple notches and I listened on 1.1 speed, so there was never a chance for a lag.
A definite “recommend” from me.

Didn’t hold my attention
Revisado: 03-02-23
This book was fine, but nothing special. I did not find it believable, given the period setting.
The reader’s performance was excellent.

Frustrating, but redeeming story
Revisado: 10-25-22
This story was frustrating at times because it seemed that things were happening too slowly. I found pace annoying through most of the book.
The narrator was pleasant and clear. I found the characters in the past much more likable/compelling than the characters in the present.
Nevertheless, overall the book drew me in to the point that I enjoyed it and am going to listen to the sequel, so I had to give it a good rating.
Sometimes it’s what’s going on with me, not the book, right?

The first time I meet Madison Shore, I’m greeted by her knickers. She’s upside down and trying to untangle herself from my chair at a wedding. I get to see a whole lot more of her later that night. The second time I meet Madison Shore is in my London office. Turns out she’s a journalist writing an article about me. To keep control of my company, I need to convince people I’m more serious about business than my playboy reputation suggests. Madison holds my future in her hands.

Great story, a LOT of sex
Revisado: 08-14-21
I really enjoyed this story, even though I typically read period books, not current pieces. The plot was nice, but it was the narrators that made it wonderful. Both were fabulous.
I skipped through some sex scenes, personal preference.

Disappointing for Heyer
Revisado: 12-24-20
I LOVE Georgette Heyer and this is the first book by her that disappointed me. The plot was convoluted and difficult to follow. The characters seemed arbitrary. There were a couple moments of the wittiness I love in Heyer’s writing, but sadly the book as a whole was very disappointing.

From the hero whistleblower of the infamous Theranos scam, Thicker than Water is a look at never-before-revealed details behind closed doors at the company, revealing a cautionary tale of corporate bullying, gaslighting, ego, and wealth running amok in Silicon Valley. Tyler Shultz had been in the workforce for less than a year when he emailed Elizabeth Holmes, his employer and the CEO and founder of Theranos, with concerns that the company’s lab practices were faulty, ignored quality control, and were potentially dangerous to patients.

Historia
In 1912, at the height of World War I, brilliant Shakespeare expert Elizebeth Smith went to work for an eccentric tycoon on his estate outside Chicago. The tycoon had close ties to the US government, and he soon asked Elizebeth to apply her language skills to an exciting new venture: code breaking. There she met the man who would become her husband, groundbreaking cryptologist William Friedman. Though she and Friedman are in many ways the Adam and Eve of the NSA, Elizebeth's story, incredibly, has never been told.

Not much of a story line
Revisado: 08-15-20
I kept waiting for this book to become interesting. It didn’t.
Just not much there, there.
Narration was robotic. The plot skipped and jumped around in maddening fashion.
I suffered through it hoping it would get better.
Take my advice and don’t expect it to.
Too bad, a good subject poorly treated.

Between his work on the 2014 Audible Audiobook of the Year, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark: A Novel, and his performance of Classic Love Poems, narrator Richard Armitage ( The Hobbit, Hannibal) has quickly become a listener favorite. Now, in this defining performance of Charles Dickens' classic David Copperfield, Armitage lends his unique voice and interpretation, truly inhabiting each character and bringing real energy to the life of one of Dickens' most famous characters.

Epic story, so so performance
Revisado: 06-25-20
Too many hoarse voices.
For a 35 hour book, you cannot use so many hoarse voices for key characters! I wanted to scream after a while, because some of the main characters’ voices were grating on my nerves so badly. It really ruined the last 8 hours or so for me.

Sweet, but not exciting
Revisado: 06-09-20
Story of the Spanish flu
This story drags a bit and rambles. It’s nice and sweet, the characters are engaging, but the story isn’t the most fascinating or compelling story.
If you like relationship novels with some history thrown in for good measure you’ll like this book, just don’t expect much plot.

Is it just me, or do these plots make no sense?
Revisado: 01-18-20
Maybe I need to admit I’m dumb. Or it’s time to blame this author, but I do not get these books. I can never follow the plot. Am I the only one? Or is it intentional that the author randomly throws in clues that have nothing to do with the plot? Either way, I’m done. I give up on this series.
