Historia
Illegal sorcery is on the rise. The quiet life Jon once had before venturing to the capital is but a distant memory. Murderous threats to the throne skulk through city streets. A rebellious army is growing. But the king - the overwhelmed ruler of Lycast who Jon has sworn to protect - is just one of many targets. The mages who use this illegal sorcery have a leader, and this leader wants something from Jon.

what happened to the MC?
Revisado: 04-10-25
IDK what happened from the first book to the second but the MC reads as a completely different character. In the first he was "weak" because he knew nothing about magica, but he learned incredibly fast and was immensely skilled with a sword and physical combat. He won all his physical conflicts easily and based of the battle near then end with the dark mages in the woods, he was so skilled it left an impression on a band of mercenaries. Now is the second book MC makes zero progress with magic and losses every fight. He gets his butt handed to him in every fight and is only saved by others or barely manages to win a one on one fight. only doing so after getting stabbed multiple times and using healing magic. The MC in this book is a weak beta compared to the first book. I can't even believe they are the same character. I would rate the first book around a 4 but I can't go higher then a 2 star on this book. Based solely on the feeling that I was tricked into buying the this one. If you want to spend money to read/listen to an MC loses every encounter he faces and is generally useless through the whole story. Then we'll this is the book for you.

Historia
When they hanged mage Baron Homburg and his family for treason, they missed one of his sons. The fourth son, ten-year-old Dale, witnessed the execution of his family, and something inside him broke. Two things happened that day: one, Dale became a borderline sociopath, and two, his mage abilities manifested at almost full strength, especially his wood or forest magic. That night he used his new wood magic to hang the earl who ordered the killing of his family.

Just bad
Revisado: 03-05-25
writing is very fast paced, witch isn't bad in itself, but it's very impersonal. You never get to know or care about any characters. The writing is uninspired. I love a good op MC as much as the next guy but this is just boring. MC's powers don't make a lick of sense. Example: multiple times he runs into people and can tell the have a "black" arua to them. He just instantly knows they are bad people and kills them on the spot. I get the op forest magic but everything else feels needlessly forced. Book also never trys to explain why the MC is special. Why his magic is so much stronger then everyone else's magic. book isn't the worst I have ever read it's just boring. If you can read it for free it's probably worth the listen just to waste time if nothing else, but I cannot recommend spending a credit on this title and I like op MC trash.

DNF. soy boy lead.
Revisado: 01-13-25
I have never seen a more cringe male lead. Dude is a cry baby spineless loser who flinches away from everyone and everything. It feels like the author just wanted a bunch of female characters to coo, pamper, and baby the MC. Treating him more like a child then an adult man. I hate the mindlessly alpha Chad main characters as much as the next guy, but who wants this?? Every word and action the MC takes is just so cringe. How can I be excited to read about gaining new powers and fighting enimes. when the MC is always 2 seconds away from having a panic attack and crying about his past. A past we never see by the way. Then his panic attack is fixed by some female character coming over going Shh shh it will be ok sweetie. It's so bad. Some people might be into it, but for me it's just super cringe. the only reason I'm not refunding is so my review will stay up. don't buy this. Also don't skimp on the voice acting. Female narrator doing male voices isn't great. Same the other way around. This is def a story that would have been better with 2 narrators.

not worth the read. killed off Riley for a stupid forced reason that doesn't make any sense. you need 10 levels of disbelief to even get close to it making sense. just forced BS. save yourself and just read the first book and stop there

Historia
Salvatore's worst nightmare is taking on a demon, but if he wants to stay at Quest Academy, how will he prove to himself and everyone else that he can succeed? He's going to have to take on an entire floor of a demonic tower before the first semester comes to a close. That's the least of Sal's problems as he navigates through his first student mission away from the school. Sal is more comfortable at the crafting table, but he needs to survive in a reclaimed zone outside of the academy with the worst team of misfits you could possibly imagine.

so much worse then book 1.
Revisado: 07-19-24
Book one had the problem of direcction. Felt like the author couldn't figure out what he wanted out of his MC. Book two went with spinless wimp of a MC. if you want to listen to hours of oh God I'm scared. please don't make me fight demons. hands shaking vomiting at the sight of demons. Just overall being a big baby. it's actually painful to listen to. It just goes on and on. Chapter after chapter. MC even gets bulldozed over in conversation with people as well. Never standing up for himself or speaking his mind. Idk author probably will switch up halfway through the book and the MC will be a completely different character but I could not finish. The first half was so bad. Only reason I'm not asking for a refund is so my review will stay up. Don't read this unless you loved book 1. If your like me and thought book 1 was just ok and you like to finish series just skip this one.

MC needs a direction
Revisado: 07-12-24
My main complaint is that the MC feels like 10 different characters mashesed into one character. Swear his personality and attitude change from scene to scene, but the main thing is that the author couldn't just pick one power. Permanently enhance people's powers, copy other people powers, make new powers out of thin air. feel like the story would have been better of the author just picked one op power and ran with it. You contestly wondering why MC doesn't just use x power in a situation. Dude can copy powers for a limited time, then for no reason what so ever he combines his copies powers together and get a new permanent OP power. MC then never tries to do this again. MC crafts a legendary grade item overnight. Then later is shoe horned into only trying to craft rare grade items because "he doesn't have the time". MC also kicked a dudes ass in a combat class with their powers turned off. The whole time leading up to it is just the MC whining about having to fight and being scared. something something adrenaline and MC beats the combat class student. like I said feels like multiple different MCs put into one. Author really just need to pick on a go with it.

MC does nothing the whole story
Revisado: 06-25-24
MC is just a pawn the moves form event to event set up by those around him. Even in the climatic fight at the end of the book that spans multiple chapters the MC gets like 2 pages of scene time and does nothing. during the whole book it's just his "lovers/loved ones" revealing secret plots they put in place for the MC and they can't tell him about it because it's for his own good. Not a single person is ever open and honest with the MC. Idk why the MC is even in the story. the book seems like 2 different stories. One when it's focus is on all the other characters. you get spying, plots, epic battles, world building, the whole 9 yards. the the story goes back to the MC and it's just. uhh have sex with pretty lady. She like me cause I'm hot and she wanted to bone my dad but he dead so now she want me. First half of the book is also filled with way to many sex scenes. MC is supposed to be this golden child, born of the Greatest king and S class dragon. yet he never does anything and is treated like a baby the whole time. while the gown ups move the plot forward. Dudes a few days away for becoming king. wish he would just stand up and demand people bring him in on the loop. Also has the problem of every girl just mindlessly in love with MC for no reason. It's a big problem in harem books and just lazy writing.

fun story, to quick to bone
Revisado: 05-30-24
Fun story. Love a good anti hero/ bad guy MC. the world building was a bit shallow. went the route of making everyone else and unbearable shit head and horrible person so the MC being bad is justified. It weak and lazy although my biggest problem is home quickly the MC bones the "love interest". Don't get me wrong I hate slow drawn out romance where u have to read 3 books for some hand holding and a shared kiss, but this is way to fast. Example: the MC meets cat girl for the first time mid battle. knocks her out with his special scary power. she wakes up after MC beats her boss and wins battle. then they just have sex right there on the floor where she woke up. Another girl was giving life by the MC from the corpse of a hero. She wakes up they have a conversation that goes like. Idk who i am I don't have a name I'm a new being you made, let's F@#$. Like come on at least have some build up, prostitutes are hard to get in bed. witch sucks because the female leads have nice character design and are some of the best part of the book.

Historia
On a typical day, on an average train platform, two warring sister goddesses found their avatars. One avatar, the young Yoshi, was swept away to the world of Ephemera to be a great hero of honor, courage, and light. The other, the not-so-young Seiji, was swept away to become a dark lord out to kill or conquer all in his path. But Seiji is in absolutely no mood for that nonsense. It's bad enough that on Earth he was a closed-off, misanthropic grouch with zero patience for other people. Now he's supposed to muster enough of a give-a-damn to lead vile hordes?

Horrible weeb trash
Revisado: 04-23-24
main character constantly throws out random Japanese words for no reason. It's really cringey to read had takes away from what could be a good story. Example : MC first time introducing himself as the dark Lord start with saying ara ara. I'm not joking. Story also has a weird hate white people under tone. nolbity in this world have pale skin and blonde hair. So the MC is told to look at skin tones to see how to act with people. Obviously all the nobles are horrible monester that rape, torture, and murder children. They have zero redeeming qualities and would never actually exist. The story seemed fine and could be great if you can get past all the eye rolling cringe. Even more then that, the author took something that could have been great and ruined it with cringe and mild racism.

writing makes no sense
Revisado: 04-02-24
the world makes legit no sense. we are expected to believe that this evil empire took over the world and enslaved everyone with these brands. that's the only thing that makes the MC special is that he is brand less. he is just given items that instantly turn him into a super powerful warrior and the only reason no one else can use them is because of the brands. I find it impossible to believe that is a whole world this empire manged to police every single birth of every person across the whole world. Also it's said many times this "good" magic that makes up the relics that give the MC power, is far stronger then the evil magic of the empire. if that's the case how did the empire manage win in the first place let alone rule for hundreds of years. The MC and love interest also meet and bone with in hours of meetings and share like 4 sentences of dialogue before they are madly in love. it's lazy bullshit. there is seemingly infinite plot holes in the writting and it just doesn't make sense. Every chapter you'll roll your eyes at a glaring plot hole or something that is just plain stupid. only savings grace is that it's 3 books for the pice of 1. still not worth it imo. Also dual narrators is also a win so at least that is some positive about the book. The rest though is definitely not worth a credit
