Historia
Before Jennifer Egan, Louise Erdrich, Luis Alberto Urrea, and Jonathan Lethem became revered authors, they were readers. In this ebullient book, America’s favorite librarian Nancy Pearl and noted-playwright Jeff Schwager interview a diverse range of America's most notable and influential writers about the books that shaped them and inspired them to leave their own literary mark. The Writer’s Library is a revelatory exploration of the studies, libraries, and bookstores of today’s favorite authors.

I enjoyed the content
Revisado: 07-16-24
If you like autobiographies/biographies, books and writers, this book is for you. It was a different type of book, and it took me a bit to get use to it. Overall I enjoyed it and my favorite thing was learning about the writers.

Coexisting but conflicting needs create self-sabotaging behaviors. This is why we resist efforts to change, often until they feel completely futile. But by extracting crucial insight from our most damaging habits, building emotional intelligence by better understanding our brains and bodies, releasing past experiences at a cellular level, and learning to act as our highest potential future selves, we can step out of our own way and into our potential.

A summary of older books
Revisado: 07-15-24
I recommend this book for a young audience, for individuals that have not read many older books. I didn’t get anything out of it. All the material comes from old books I read. I couldn’t finish it. This book would have been great when I was in my twenties, nothing here for a 40 year old.

Revisado: 06-18-24
Loved the history and learning about many female artists. I saw the hard copy and it’s a beautiful book. That will be my next purchase. The hard copy has photographs of the art. I highly recommend if you either like history or art.

I had the most amazing dream.
Revisado: 04-17-24
After listening for the first time, I had the most amazing dream. I heard the voice say I would wake up in a garden, but I woke up in the beach. It was so magical.

Historia
An award-winning journalist obsessed with obsession, Bianca Bosker’s existence was upended when she wandered into the art world—and couldn’t look away. Intrigued by artists who hyperventilate around their favorite colors and art fiends who max out credit cards to show hunks of metal they think can change the world, Bosker grew fixated on understanding why art matters and how she—or any of us—could engage with it more deeply.

If you enjoy biographies and love art, this book is for you. Loved the research the writer did and how she described her experiences. It was a joy to listen to this book. There is a little bit of everything in this book: philosophy, history, business, and of course art.

Historia
Raised in a turbulent home, Brittany Williams learned to use food as a coping mechanism to manage her feelings at a young age. When she was 14, a family member’s comment “no man will want you with a pudgy figure like that” forever changed the way she viewed her body and opened a door, new and alluring, into the world of self-loathing, self-punishment, and dieting. Told with Brittany’s unflagging honesty and trademark vulnerability, Dear Body describes the tensions of growing up in a body that often felt more like a traitor than a friend.

Good autobiography
Revisado: 01-03-24
I enjoyed the book, and I hate judging people’s story, but it think something was missing. Overall I do recommend if you enjoy autobiographies.
Its not the writer, its me, I expected to get something out of it, but I was only entertained,

Historia
In the spring of 1972, Joyce Maynard, a freshman at Yale, published a cover story in The New York Times Magazine about life in the sixties. Among the many letters of praise, offers for writing assignments, and request for interviews was a one-page letter from the famously reclusive author, J.D. Salinger. At Home in the World is the story of a girl who loved and lived with J.D. Salinger, and the woman she became. A crucial turning point in Joyce Maynard's life occurred when her own daughter turned eighteen--the age Maynard was when Salinger first approached her.
