One day, I'm married, living in the triangle, and working as a head nurse at one of the country's best hospitals. The next, I've shed a 175 pounds of idiot and find myself encountering ghosts, dragons, and pixies while taking care of a sick patient. Losing my sanity didn't seem like the worst thing to happen since I moved back home with my mom and nana.

I have read the other series of Fiona which I really like. This one is slow starting but I like.
Revisado: 03-19-24
The voices for the characters is throwing me off. Aidonius (sorry if that's spelled wrong) why is his voice so slow? It makes him sound dimwitted. And because I read the Fiona series first where he has a quick voice that has an Australian accent it is really weird. But even without the accent the slow speech rate is just really irritating.
The story is just starting and so far not as impressive as the Fiona story series but I'm willing to keep going

Historia
Eight-year-old orphan Beth Harmon is quiet, sullen, and by all appearances unremarkable. That is, until she plays her first game of chess. Her senses grow sharper, her thinking clearer, and for the first time in her life she feels herself fully in control. By the age of 16, she's competing for the US Open championship. But as Beth hones her skills on the professional circuit, the stakes get higher, her isolation grows more frightening, and the thought of escape becomes all the more tempting.

I liked this book. It was difficult to follow the chess moves mainly because I don’t really play chess however both the writer and the reader portrayed the main character’s frustration and exhilaration well so I could understand if the character was doing well or not. The main characters struggle to get past her alcohol and drug dependency was hard to listen too and go thru with them but was satisfying when she over came them and to see how much she matured. I would like to know what her life was like after this so I think that speaks to the character development.
