Historia
If only Mark Davis hadn’t put on a dress for the talent show. It was a joke—other guys did it too—but when his boyfriend saw Mark in that dress, everything changed. And now, fresh on the heels of high school heartbreak, Mark has given up on love. Maybe some people are just too much for this world—too weird, too wild, too feminine, too everything. Thankfully, his older brother Eric always knows what to say to keep Mark from spinning into self-loathing. "Be yourself! Your full sequin-y self.”

Beautifully written, expertly performed

This book not only filled my heart with love for this coming of age story of this young drag queen it broke it and somehow, by the end put it all back together again. How I wish we all had an older brother like Eric to make sense of it all. If I had one criticism, I would just say I’m sad it’s over. Thank you Davis family lessons well learned.

Historia
Let’s face it: we all want a seat at the cool table, a great job, and loads of money. But most of us won’t be able to achieve this widely accepted, black-or-white, definition of winning, which makes us feel like failures, that we’re destined to a life of loserdom. That’s the conventional wisdom. It’s also crap, according to comedian and cult hero Chris Gethard, who knows a thing of two about losing. Failing is an art form, he argues; in fact, it’s the only the way we’re ever going to discover who we are, what we really want, and how to live the kind of life we only dreamed about.

This was an amazing book when I read it a little while ago. Hearing Chris read it, added more laughter, and more heart. I’m so glad I listened as well as read it!
