Historia
In the summer of 1862, a group of young artists led by the passionate and talented Edward Radcliffe descends upon Birchwood Manor in rural Oxfordshire. Their plan: to spend a secluded summer month in a haze of inspiration and creativity. But by the time their stay is over, one woman has been shot dead while another has disappeared; a priceless heirloom is missing; and Edward Radcliffe’s life is in ruins. Over 150 years later, Elodie Winslow, a young archivist in London, uncovers a leather satchel containing two seemingly unrelated items.

Very disappointed
Revisado: 02-14-20
I usually love books by Kate Morton, but this one dragged on. The characters were not well defined or developed. I was confused by all the switching of time
The narration sounded like someone reading a book in one dimension with no distinction of voices

Excellent character development

Enjoyed this book because of the excellent character development. Don’t know if the narrator,Rachel Atkins made the characters come alive or the author, Kathryn Hughes wrote a novel with many twists and turns.

Didn’t think I would like this, but I loved it. Realistically told story, with intertwining characters. A great understanding of the “dust bowl” in Kansas and it’s affect on families and farming. Would read another story by Laura McNeal and “loved the Scottish” lilt by Angela Dawe.

Loved this book as it revealed how we sometimes have misguided views of our circumstances. Loved the insertion of genuine faith in the unwavering response of the pastor father. Authenticity rules!

What she doesn’t understand is why her mother never mentioned it.
