Not bad. I really like that the love interest isn't the first girl he meets. That's a really nice change to the usual format.
It's a good listen with a fairly solid storyline and an amazing VA.
Some things feel like they didn't get a solid enough explanation, some events didn't get the proper build-up I felt they should have, BUT you will not be hearing the MC's "Character Sheet" every fifteen minutes.
Most of the characters are decently well rounded and feel almost real. Though, some of the supporting cast (such as some of the teachers) are introduced and then left to the side without any development. Some develope (almost) randomly though, but that only really happened once.
Overall, I think it is a decent listen, and if you're on the fence they have the first two books in a bundle. Which, is always a good gamble. It won't have you sitting on the edge of your seat at any point though, so keep that in mind.

Certainly give this one a listen. Doesn't require the previous series, but after listening to this I'm going to go pick those up.

Finally. A good book. (Here is my inadequate review.)
This is the first audiobook in a long time where I didn't spend every chapter screaming "BUT WHY???" or stopping to replay the last five chapters to make sure I wasn't being stupid and in fact it was the book/author being confusing/unreliable.
Seriously, if you're tired of every cast and crew being reduced to "Clap and celebrate as the MC is a c*ck-waffle" then this book is the one for you.
The story is well structured for the most part, engaging and entertaining without prancing about heavy subjects like they're sprinkles.
The magic system is reliable and consistent, and people react believably to that magic. There isn't any "we're all using the same system, but you're just so clever you found an exploit in the World System literally nobody else ever has."
There is no inconsistent power scaling that leaves you confused to who is stronger than who, but then sudden plot device to further muddy the waters. The fights flow naturally instead of just a bunch of painfully obvious clichés... Lookin' at you "The Vast Majority of Lit-RPG Series". Be prepared to go "Well, f*ck how are you going to get out of this" and then have that followed by "Oh, well I should have figured that out" instead of "Oh, I should have seen that B.S. coming".
The overall pacing of the story is really consistent, and each problem arises and then it's dealt with in a timely manner. Nothing is ever forgotten by you or the book, and by then end you won't ge going "But... What about that thing mentioned in Chapter Five two Books ago?"

TL;DR: If you're looking for some good fantasy, are tired of "character sheets" at the end of every chapter, and need something to listen while waiting for the next installment of Chaos Seeds you can't go wrong with this series.
Again, use your monthly credit or buy this one outright. You will not regret this one.

P.S. Yes, Chaos Seeds is the best Lit-RPG Series. Fight me.
