One woman. One road trip. A second chance at life
Revisado: 04-29-25
I listened to the audiobook version of this novel, and I have to say, the narrator was excellent, her voice added depth and emotion that truly brought Karen’s story to life. While the book had a somewhat slow start, it gradually unfolded into a moving and memorable journey.
At the heart of the story is Karen Grace, a woman in midlife facing a cascade of life-altering events. After attending her mother’s funeral in her Midwestern hometown, she’s promptly fired from her job, leaving her both emotionally and financially adrift. As if that weren’t enough, she’s also dealing with the aftermath of a painful divorce, her husband having left her for his pregnant girlfriend.
I personally found Karen’s character deeply relatable. Being around the same age and having gone through a divorce myself, her sense of dislocation, vulnerability, and quiet strength resonated with me on a personal level. Her struggle felt authentic, and her emotional growth was portrayed with subtlety and heart.
The much-anticipated road trip portion of the story doesn't happen until later in the book, but once it begins, it becomes a turning point, both in the plot and for Karen herself. Agreeing to accompany her elderly neighbor on one final journey, Karen finds herself not only covering miles across the country but also reckoning with the miles she’s come in her own life. The tension rises dramatically on a deserted Wyoming highway, where she's forced into a fateful, life-changing decision.
This isn’t just a road trip story, it’s a story about transformation, resilience, and finding your footing again after life knocks you down. By the end, I was thoroughly invested in Karen’s journey and left feeling inspired by her courage to keep moving forward.

A heartfelt journey of resilience & strength
Revisado: 04-28-25
I really enjoyed this short story that beautifully sets the stage for the series. I listened to the audio version, and the author did an amazing job bringing Karen’s journey to life. It offers an inspiring glimpse into Karen’s world, and I’m excited to learn more about her story.
Karen Grace is a relatable, middle-aged executive whose world is unraveling, her career is at risk, her marriage is crumbling, and her mother’s health is declining. Yet through these hardships, Karen finds unexpected strength and support from her work family. As she faces corporate betrayals and personal loss, her resilience shines through.
This is an empowering story of grief, renewal, and rediscovering one’s power. It’s a touching reminder that even when everything seems to fall apart, it can be the beginning of something new and stronger. I can’t wait to dive deeper into Karen’s story in the series ahead!

A story of healing, hope, and unexpected romance
Revisado: 04-28-25
I really enjoyed this story! It pulled me in from the very first page with its emotional depth and heartfelt characters. Sam and Kolt’s journey felt so real, two people grappling with heartbreak and disappointment, finding an unexpected connection in the most unlikely way. Their chemistry was undeniable, and watching their fake relationship slowly blur into something genuine was both heartwarming and addictive.
I listened to the audio version of the book, and the author did an amazing job bringing the story to life. The emotions, the humor, and the tension were captured so beautifully, it made the experience even more special.
The small-town charm and behind-the-scenes look at the music world added extra layers that made the story even richer. I loved the way the author captured the vulnerability and hope in both Sam and Kolt as they fought their personal battles while slowly healing together.
If you enjoy fake dating tropes, emotional second chances, and characters you can truly root for, Staged is an absolute must-listen. Highly recommend!

It started out with a missing child, then came the slaughter of wild animals and now—what exactly? People are being brutally murdered in the town of Centerpoint and Sheriff Ted Colson has no idea who is behind it. He is unpopular and needs to get a handle on this soon. Some people feel it is the start of a new wave of evil over the town like that of almost two years previous, but Ted doesn't want to believe this. He can't believe this.

Gripping Sequel That Hooks You Early
Revisado: 04-24-25
The second book in this series, The Night Howlers, had me hooked from page one. It picks up with the same eerie atmosphere and tension that made the first book compelling, but cranks up the suspense and mystery even more.
The plot moves fast, starting with a missing child and escalating into a string of brutal murders, and I was fully invested in seeing how Sheriff Ted Colson would handle the chaos. Despite being unpopular, he’s a character you root for as he tries to hold the town together.
The return of familiar faces like Sarah and Joyce adds depth, especially as they work behind the scenes to uncover the truth. The hints of supernatural evil creeping back into Centerpoint kept me on edge, and I loved how the story blends mystery, horror, and small-town drama.
If you liked Near Miss, this one is a must-read. It’s thrilling, intense, and sets the stage for even more darkness to come. I absolutely enjoyed it! I can't wait for book three.

A Steamy, Second-Chance Romance That Stole My Hear
Revisado: 04-19-25
Rosie P. Burke has quickly become one of my favorite steamy romance authors, and Final Shot is hands-down my favorite book in the series! I was completely hooked from the first page, the chemistry, the emotion, the tension, all of it was perfectly balanced and beautifully written.
Bryan is the kind of character you instantly root for. After years on the road as a pro hockey player, he's finally back home, surrounded by family and success, but still haunted by the one person who got away. And Olivia? I felt every bit of her heartbreak, her hesitation, and her strength. Their reunion is messy, tender, passionate, everything you want in a second-chance romance.
The story is full of heart, heat, and just the right amount of angst. The late-night texts, the emotional build-up, and the slow re-ignition of what they once had made this story impossible to put down. And when the secrets start to unravel? I was holding my breath.
I listened to the audiobook version, and the narrator did a great job. If you love sports romance with depth, chemistry, and a whole lot of feels, Final Shot is a must-read. Rosie P. Burke knocked it out of the park, or should I say, hit a hat trick with this one!

Historia
Jo Who Died is the funny and bittersweet telling of a mother's life story from the perspective of her recently deceased daughter. Jenny Knight never intended to call seven of her eight children Jo(e). It's funny how life turns out. At twenty-six years old, Jo 5 throws herself out of a window with no intention of dying. Nor did she plan for her siblings to be suspects in a murder investigation. Sometimes, that's just the way things go.

Surprisingly delightful
Revisado: 04-14-25
I listened to the audiobook version of this book and was pleasantly surprised. The narrator did a fantastic job, engaging, entertaining, and perfectly suited for the tone of the story.
At first, I wasn’t sure this book would be for me, but the more I listened, the more I was drawn in. It’s a quirky mix of silly humor, heartwarming moments, a touch of suspense, and a sweet love story that sneaks up on you. What starts off as absurd turns into a surprisingly touching and reflective tale.
Told from the perspective of Jo 5, recently deceased and watching her chaotic family unravel from beyond the grave, the story captures both the ridiculous and the real. Jenny Knight, the mother of eight mostly-named-Jo(e) children, is a fascinating character, flawed, funny, and painfully human.
There are mystery elements, emotional depth, and laugh-out-loud moments throughout. The unusual premise somehow works perfectly, and by the end, I genuinely loved the book.
If you enjoy witty, offbeat stories with heart, Jo Who Died is definitely worth a listen.

Fun Escape
Revisado: 04-12-25
I absolutely loved this book! I listened to the audio version, and the narrator, Malorie Wallen, brought the story to life in the best way. Her performance was engaging, and she captured the humor and emotion of the characters perfectly. The plot itself was so entertaining, lighthearted, funny, and full of heart.
Harper Sutton seems to have it all, but her picture-perfect life is a cage built by her controlling parents. On the day of her arranged marriage, she escapes through a bathroom window, and that’s where things get exciting. Enter Indigo Maxwell, a marketing exec with a vacation she can’t take and a brilliant idea: let Harper take her place. What starts as a temporary escape quickly spirals into a whirlwind of unexpected romance, hidden identities, and a twist that totally caught me off guard.
This was such a fun and refreshing read. It’s perfect for fans of rom-coms with a dash of suspense and a lot of heart. Highly recommend!

For Lady Elizabeth Burghley, the pressure to marry is mounting. It’s irritating and tiresome. Her passion is to succeed as an artist, and if she does have to marry, she wants her husband to be someone she likes. So when she comes across a shirtless, handsome, sometimes surly, Scottish gamekeeper who has a creative side himself, she can’t help but wish fate had given him a title.

Charming Romance, Stellar Narration
Revisado: 04-11-25
I listened to the audiobook version of this novel, and I have to say, Mary Phillips absolutely nailed it! Her narration was funny, expressive, and full of life, adding so much charm and depth to the story. She really brought the characters to life and made the experience thoroughly enjoyable.
As for the story, Lady Elizabeth Burghley is a strong-willed, artistic heroine who sometimes tested my patience, but in a way that made her feel real. Tom, the rugged Scottish gamekeeper with a creative soul, was instantly lovable, patient, kind, and magnetic. Their chemistry was electric, and their moments together were full of passion and heart.
The twists in the story kept things interesting, and I found myself rooting for them even when things got complicated. It's a beautifully written historical romance with humor, desire, and just the right amount of tension. Definitely worth the listen, especially with a narrator like Mary Phillips at the helm!

Hauntingly chaotic
Revisado: 04-07-25
I listened to the audiobook version and while the narrator did a good job, I found the frequent time jumps between past and present—and between multiple characters—a bit confusing to follow. The premise is intriguing, especially with the eerie setting of the Gallagher Hotel and the haunted party angle. Riley’s grief and desire to rebuild her life gave her character some depth, and Chris had an interesting, if chaotic, backstory.
The supernatural twist added a spooky touch, and the atmosphere was well-crafted, but with so many characters and secrets unraveling at once, it was sometimes hard to stay connected to the core storyline. Overall, it was a decent read with a unique concept, but the execution made it hard to fully engage.

Rosie Burke did an amazing job setting up the next book, and I’m already counting down the days until I can read it. The story had the perfect blend of heart, humor, and romance—Coach Tommy and Amy’s dynamic kept me hooked from start to finish. Highly recommend!
